Superfly Johnson...
Should get his own game, where the aim is to run around saying stupid things while trying to get killed as fast as possible.

You need to install the patch 1.3 and both Mikiko and Superfly will stop running around aimlessly and they will stop dying. And they will start actually assisting you if you bother to learn to control them.

Please, take a look at here for more instructions and stuff. If you have trouble with the game, explain the situation to me in detail. I'll help you.

Just installed patch 1.3 and the companions will actually kill enemies now.

Indeed, and now that the game seems to work properly you can start comparing it to Quake 2, Unreal and Kingpin.
