Until you've reached max level in any mmo you're just playing a small part of the larger game. This isn't a single player game with the end being the level cap.
It's the gearing up to face the challenges of end-game.
I get older games eventually get catch up mechanics so new players arn't completely left in the dust; The old content isn't really used for anything more than tutorial and stream lined for the sake of the new players, but when games launch, you can hit max level super fast, and anything under max is considered "tutorial", then having a level system at all is literally just distraction, and shouldn't even be part of the game.
Levels are just there to check an arbitrary box and keep people from looking at tik tok on their phone and getting distracted.
kills these mobs that do nothing,
attack a world boss for 13 minutes that does 1 wipe attack every millenia (oh no I got to use... WASD?)
have bugs hunt you for days ( I couldn't complete the tutorial for 1h as I got hardstuck because the NPC got themselves stuck.. in other NPC's ) and directly after the tutorial boss fight, the little yapping doll literally ignored its function and didnt talk to me, so I was hardstuck... again, had to die for it to reset :D
The combat mostly sucks, they managed to make tab target games like WoW more interesting to me as I have not have experienced a worse combat flow exp that reeks of mobile game auto-play as its core. I hate Tab targeting, wanted to force myself into liking it, this game is just bad for that too.
World looks great though, although Imo BDO still looks better which is weird for an older game but that game also runs 2x better.
I cant believe how unoptimised this game is.
Game is actually a lot of fun with some really clever design elements. Also, the game wasn't designed to be a mobile game. It was designed with PC / Console as primary and it WAS going to be ported to mobile, but was scrapped from mobile a long time ago.
Also looks horrible on the community's part and the obnoxious gate keeping is a huge turn off for new players who haven't tried it.
Was tempted to try this out and maybe get a few friends with me, but with all these replies that obnoxiously deny ANY criticism whatsoever, nah. It'll end up dead just like New World.
Comparing alot of aspects with WoW, when T&L does it almost the same or even ten times better than that, yet T&L is boring and WoW isnt...
Especially in terms of optimizations, servers, amount of players, quest design... T&L is superior in a lot of ways.
I wouldve expected complains about the Pay 2 Win system, which ships as pay 2 progress in this game, i would totaly agree most likely.
Yet he complains about areas, where this entirely free game does it better, than a 63€ expensive WoW expansion.
I think i dropped latest WoW EXP. at lvl 67 or so, it took me several days to even reach that because it is THAT boring and my subscription is still running but i couldnt care, because its wasted anyways, was just account bound money otherwise i wouldve refunded.
Meanwhile im following these quests the second time after Beta and still have fun with it, especially when theres an event ongoing and literally several thousand players in the same area, dropping MMO vibes. Meanwhile if a Worldboss in WoW spawned i was all alone alot of times. Wonderful.
I honestly dont know where T&L leads me, im already pissed about Pay 2 Progress mechanics and all the FOMO stuff at the ingame vendors.
But its yet good enough for a leveling experience.
Pretty sure people are comparing it to WoW just to mock how outdated the gameplay feels.
TL feels like it was supposed to be a mobile game to compete with black desert mobile, not a full PC release to compete with black desert itself. But yea if you only played WoW, there are probably alot of step ups in TL, but its not really competing with WoW or FF; I should hope it can do something better than a game that is 20 years old.
