Herding issue: Cattle not reproducing
Simple as, i have no infestation. I had 8 cattle from start, assigned 2 herders in a 30x30 pasture yes i have better fields) they started making milk (creamery), and now i have 4 cattle. they're not breeding at all. I have the herders right next to the cattle and everything...

Is this a bug?

Did I end up with homosexual cattle?

Am I doing something wrong?

Down to 3 now. one just flat out disappeared. no leather or meat even produced. My cattle limit is set at 44. Can cattle starve?

And now to 1. I have about 7500 stored food, however it's mostly fish. some stuff from Gatherers.

It sounds like an infestation, eventhough you said it wasn't. I would have suggested moving the cows to a different field. Someone else stated that you could mark a pasture for demolition and then reclaim it and an infestation would disappear. You could try that.

There was no signs of infestation, none of the disease miasma appeared, and i moved them to the next field, but too late. now cow-less. thanks for the suggestion though.

I have seen this myself. I think it is a bug, however I never had a die off. I moved 10 cow to new place, and then they mate like monkeys. All was well.:Khappy:

Yeah, I think it's a bug somewhere in the Cow code.. I had the same thing happen, I just slaughtered all the cows and utilized what I could, then got sheep. I have three rather large Chicken Pens though, and they seem to mate like bunnies.

I think it's always a good idea to split a herd to a new pasture if you noticed they're not reproducing and see if it fixes anything. As others have suggested. :)

It's easy to miss the infestation notice. Did you change any video settings that might make the green infestation cloud not appear?

I think your speed goes down to 1 so that should be a clue that something is going on unless you always play on 1,in which case you probably slept through it.

i play on x10, and didn't change any settings. but thanks. i'll keep an otice for it in future.
