Can't grow fruit or nut trees
The orchards , no matter the size, big or small, will not let a farmer be assigned to even get it started. This is the first time I've had a problem like this. The last village I played started having a ? mark jumping around from field to field and I would almost constantly be redoing the numbers of assigned workers to each field. All the villages I've played have had one farmer for a 7X8 crop field and 1 farmer for a 4X10-12 orchard with no problem. This present village has more than enough farmers for the crop fields but no matter how many more farmers are added the Orchards keep the ? question mark on them and can't be worked. Is this a glitch? The village can't have a tavern if there isn't anything to make the ale from. The wheat ordered 9 yrs ago hasn't shown up and the seed merchant hasn't visited either. Just the food and livestock merchant. The village otherwise has been doing well.

Do you have each field set to 1? And the amount of total farmers set tto the number of fields/orchards? There are 2 different settings for this.

I set the fields that need 2 farmers to 2 of 2 and the fields that need only one farmer to 1 of 2. The orchards should only need one each. Turned all the crop fields into 8 larger fields that need 2 farmers to work one field and only have 2 small fields now. Still had some trouble getting workers assigned to the orchards so kept adding farmers up to 30 when should have only needed 22 for all the fields and orchards. When I left the game yesterday it looked like everything had finally settled down and the new orchards and old ones were covered and ? marks weren't appearing randomly and jumping around from field to orchard and back to another field. I don't know about the settings being different. How are they different?

There is a setting per field and a setting for the total number. Select a farm field and set the left most number to one or 2. Then use the single number to set the total, but I like to use the professions window to set the total number needed as it will tell you how many you have and how many you need.

Are you shure you have the right trees to start the wanted orchard ?
