Meh, just remodel their home or tear it down. They will move to the boarding house that way.
A long time ago I did find some discussion about throwing everybody out of their houses and then reclaiming them all as a way to reshuffle pairs when you have a lot of "fertile" girls living with older men but it was prone to a number of fatal occurences and couldn't possibly be worth the trouble, at least for me. This was also a discussion that I think took place while the game was still in beta and the idea may not work anymore, if it ever really worked then.
Now, back to tearing down that brand new barn before the idiot trapped behind it starves to death.
"Old folks" work 'til they drop. If you retire them - the active workers will not be able to provide for everyone and starvation will soon follow!
Maybe you need to pay more attention to what happens in your towns.... and to what I actually wrote. Where did I say anything about "retiring" anyone?
A single old man will move in, yes, automatically with a little old lady as soon as one becomes available or vice-versa. Same thing happens with younger single people if their spouse dies for some reason, even if there's kids in the house.
Any of this have anything at all to do with retiring anyone?
EDIT: http://shiningrocksoftware.com/forum/discussion/3566/removing-old-people-from-houses-to-free-up-these-houses-for-younger-adults-to-start-a-family/p1
Pretty old but still relevant. I'll give you some partial posts from this thread and you are free to verify them or not. Then you can tell me again about how it doesn't happen, eventhough it's common knowledge that it does.
>> "I've tried this trick, and it's pretty effective-usually the game will do it autonomously, but in case it doesn't:
When you have a single person house, pin it to the screen and find another single person house...." << End of quote
>> "I've never felt the need to kick people out of houses unless I am upgrading log to stone. With the seniors I find that they will remarry as widows and widowers become available and a young couple will move into the house that one of them vacated. Sometimes the widowed female moves and sometimes the widowed male, especially if the female still has a child or student in the house. I should also note that single widowed citizens do not move if there is still a child or student in the house." << End of quote
"Retirement home mod?"
I did not address you specifically, you are not the only one writing on this thread.
If I'm talking to you I will let you know.
I notice you don't seem to have much to say about that so let's talk about the other. You are wrong, again. In more than one town I could very easily retire a large to very large portion of my senior population with not a hint of starvation. Not a doubt in my mind since I have ~400 laborers that already do almost nothing and I'll go even further than that and say that given enough time to tweak my housing and stop some expansion I almost guarantee you that I can retire every single one of them.
You're a troll, jensen, and a ♥♥♥♥ for brains. Tell me again about what old people don't do.
Once again - I did not address you specifically!
It's not all about you!
When all else fails run to the profile, amiright?
Tell me again what old people don't do.
I guess you learned. Now don't you feel smarter?
I'd be interested in knowing why you took such an unwarranted hostile tone toward me in the other thread too, which is the reason you're getting exactly what you asked for in this one. It'd be a real shame if that attitude stemmed from the ignorance you've shown here. If it's something else, we can hash that out too but preferably in that thread. Else, I'm just done with you. My girlfriend knows more about this game than you apparently do and she couldn't get a town to over 100 if her life depended on it.
Anything else you have to say directly to me or in reference to anything I say do it in the thread you took such an arrogant, smartass tone in or stfu.
I am just posting this for anyone else that may have given up on this process. Keep trying and always look at their job and how far they are willing to move. I'm not sure that this is why but it seems much easier with all stone roads...
