So whats the endgame?
You just sit and watch little ants scurry around for an hour and wait for a disaster to happen to break the monotony?

Are there any plans about adding some type of combat or something? I want to see the nomads get violent and try to take over your village or some local despot taking an interest in your land. This game feels like Stronghold with all the action taken out and with less long production chain items.

Some people are content to play a game without killing each other.

No plans for war, crime, etc.. No "end game". If those are what you want, look elsewhere.

I've enjoyed the game over the past year or so. For me Banished offers creative city building, resource management, production chain management, adventurer. The last two items you'll find in a mod called Colonial Charter. There's a link in this guide:

Examples of what I like about city building in Banished:

It's a canvas and you are an artist. The fine examples in the screenshots above are works of art.

The idea is to keep them alive - not kill them!

I don't understand how anyone can come to the conclusion that a city builder has an endgame. City builders have always been about the journey, not the destination.

Yea most people prefer the destination. But whenever we get there we get bored and move on to something else.

Everybody needs the journey part of a game to make it fun yet not everybody prefers it.

To double Seriously_Dave, get CC & Medieval Town. You´ll have so much stuff to build, it will take a long time till you could consider your town finished.

This game is insanely easy for me is why. You play enough of these RTS style city builders and you expect something interesting to happen to challenge you. I've faced down countless tornadoes, fires, and alien invasions in my day and this was nothing new.

Even Stronghold had wolves and bears and to some extent rabbits, that would destroy your crop if you didn't control the population and the focus on that game was mainly fighting other kingdoms. I mean am I actually supposed to beleive the regions in this game have no predators? How do the deer keep from starving themselves without basic predators?

This game just feels extremely unrealistic and bland without it. Without some type of enemy you're just left spinning your wheels and wasting your time. I mean you can talk about the "journey" like it's something great but even the long production items (steel tools, wool+leather coats, ale) are all extremely easy to complete. Disasters are rare if you play smart and it's rare anything interesting comes from the trading post. ITS JUST SO BORING!

Violence and the middle ages go hand in hand. You can't just edit that part out. Anyways this T for toddler game was fun for about two hours(including tutorial) which is when I can't refund it anymore. So I guess im just stuck with it. I hope the devs or some of the modders realise this and make some tweaks.

Good thing the summer sale is on.You can get a different game.
Jigain Jun 20, 2015 @ 11:03am
Well, if it's too easy, make it harder. Do the Mountain Men achievement, for example - maintain 50 pop for 20 years on a small mountainous map. Set the weather to harsh, even. If that's not enough, there are plenty of mods that allow you to play the game in a more difficult way, Colonial Charter for one adds a lot of different challenge-type difficulties.

Game's hard if you make it hard. Just don't expect it to be hard if you set it to easy. I'm not sayin', I'm jus' sayin'.

Because this game has always felt very "Colonial America" / Jamestown / Plymouth-ish.. I think an "expansion" which added interactions with surrounding native American tribes would be great. A high level trading/diplomacy meta maybe, where if certain conditions were reached there would be raids. So adding that, plus Indian goods, weapons, crime and punishment and perhaps some trade "meta" with England.

I loved every minute of this game (250 hours played), but literally "spent myself" on it at this point. If all that stuff got added, it would once again destroy my life.

Don't worry, you'll be back.I left for a while but I heard it calling me back and here I am.

I feel like a good endgame would be to get all the acheivements, because in doing so, it requires you to play at least a couple good playthroughs making a different emphasis on each one.

I wish there was an option to reset them.I would love to do them again.

I got all the achievements that weren't, "Now just do the same thing, but like with a gazillion more citizens." Oh the pain of discovering that Uneducated and Isolated essentially require separate games if you're playing on Hard. Without Warm Coats, the additional penalty of lack of education just hammered me in the teeth. Took me SEVERAL playthroughs to figure it out.
