Anyone seen this game that released today?
Looks like it could be a Banished successor. Thoughts?

The concept art looks way better than the actual screenshots and overall the thing smacks of one of those shovelware products that tend to come out soon after something else that's really popular. Ultimately, it looks old and cheap and I wouldn't be surprised if whoever made it actually made it a long time ago, like sometime around mid/late 2014, and never released it. I mean, damn, they even named it Exile. Might as well have named it Blanished.

To be fair there's only so many reasons why a small group of people would start a new settlement from nothing. Honestly I'm surprised I haven't seen more city builders go with that theme

I don't see anything wrong with the art style (while I like good style and decor in my city builders I don't need them in super ultra high def). I'll hold off until there's some gameplay videos to check out but I'm down for a new citybuilder
I read your review on the store page, I'm going to give it an honest chance when I get home from work

From the video, it definitely screams Banished. The developer of that game did say he working on another version of the game. Is this it? If you have better resources, and can determine this, please post your findings. Thanks.

it's not, the dev of this game confirmed in the forums he has no affiliation. banished dev dropped off the face of the earth, unfortunately

Are you at all related to developer for Banished? Asking in good faith, this project looks extremely similar to it, down to the name.
Totally fair question—I'm not connected to the developer of Banished, or any related projects like Forest Village, Path of Exile, or the 1995 Exile. Like many, I was inspired by Banished, but this is entirely my own project.

Exile builds on that inspiration with systems built to scale smoothly beyond a couple hundred villagers, and with terrain that plays a much larger role in shaping how you build and expand. I still remember when little Timmy would starve in a town full of food, just because the game decided he should walk to the far side of town to eat. Figured the least I could do was make this no longer a thing.

Sorry for the late response. Still getting familiar.

Bought it.

Looks pretty good so far, steep learning curve if you haven't played Banished (modded).

Took multiple restarts to get the base town up and running somewhat smoothly.
i might get it , the icon for paper maker is a paper airplane

I don't know if that's necessarily a negative to the game though. For any colony sim (or even survival games in general) it's fairly expected that you'll lose the first couple colonies as you learn how things go

How complex is the resource/production chain?

Claybot,
Can you please give us a more detailed review after playing it for 2 or 3 weeks.
Thank you.

I'm on my second one right now almost 30 years in, my first attempt really showed me how much you need to build a clinic because within 6 years everyone got sick and died. resource/production is pretty similar to banished honestly. you start with every seed and animal type, and for the most part getting your settlement up and running is pretty similar to how it is in banished. I was a little confused when I started because there's no tutorial/wiki and it just drops you right in, but I just started doing what I would do in banished and figured it out quickly
