How many people you have?

230 and climbing rapidly. Just declined 30 nomads. This is my second go on this map, my population grew to fast last time and everyone starved.

That's not the map causing that.

Build slow. Keep production ahead of population. 100 food units per villager per year is needed plus you need at least +10% to build reserves.

The faster you build the faster you need to produce. So the spiral begins.........

Build town hall, use production tab and graphs. Steady incline for population. Spikes and troughs in growth will kill you.

I need to build houses because I don't have enough kids to become laborers

Can I suggest a read of this. It's not meant to be a walkthrough but it shows the underlying needs and the problems that might occur.

I have like 2 or 3 camps where there's a hunter, a gatherer, and a forester with a storage barn and stockpile. Try not to build them too far away from your central market/house area. Then get a trading post and get seeds as fast as possible and start making farms.

You should never stop building houses but at the same time, if you rush building then you need the houses so you can build the food so you need people to build more houses. Then you need stone and iron and wood and then they're not getting food so you build more houses.............

It's a risk management strategy game and is designed to fail if you are "rash" and "reckless" :)

In the map I show above, it took 30+ years to get to 100. Some have even laughed at that - but none of the "laughers" ever got over 1000+ either. Worth thinking about.
