Villagers walking to the edge of the map..?
Has anyone had this problem? Any solution? My villagers keep walking to far south east corner of the map, stop for a minute, then walk back to town. Half of them die on the way back due to starvation. When I click on them, it says they are collecting resources, but I never told them to do that.

Seems to be mainly the foresters, herbalists and herdsman that do it. So far I've built a stone road to where they go to, and built a marketplace half way and it stops some from dying. But what a waste of resources, and I need to keep vendors in the market.

Maybe it's just this seed?

Well if anyone encounters this with a random seed, the solution I found was to expand towards where they walk to, so you have ready food supplies in that general direction.

I would recommend bridges in the places where they are going.

Bridges? That's a decision from map to map, not a solution to it in general. For example with the map I'm playing now, they don't cross water on their way so a bridge is useless.

somehow I am having the same problem with you... People from different professions decided to randomly pick up resource at edge of map, and die on their way back

I figured out the problem. Have a close look, zoom in, where they are going, some resources like venison is spawning there. My pasture with cattle was too close to another building, and when my herdsman killed a cow it's meat teleported down there.

Solution: Destroy them type of buildings, and rebuild them a bit smaller so the edges don't come close to another building. I did this and the problem stopped completely.
