When kids become an adult at age 10, they will need an empty house to move into with another available young adult. Otherwise, they'll continue living with their parents and not reproduce. Having room in someone else's house won't be enough; they need their own house.
To clarify RE: houses, there are lots of houses, many of them are completely empty.
Current population is 13/1/4, i spose with a lot of inbreeding... might work out?

As long as you have empty houses they'll continue to reproduce.. And no you're not doomed.. because it's possible some 20 and 30 year olds could still have children and when those 10 year olds grow old enough they'll probably have kids if they're the right genders.. You will hit a very low opulation though.. Still can be recovered if you focus your jobs right..
Does anyone know the workings behind nomads, anything that attracts them, or is it just random?
you can also have "too many" houses.
Balancing houses / population is a fine balancing act.
You need 1 house for every 2 ppl that can be a couple. Not more than that or 1 person will move into one, and one in another. Thiis is not realyl an issue Late game when your running a pop of 300 but early you can have too many houses.
First thing i always do when i start a new game is make sure the "general stats" tab is ALWAYS up and always watch your pop from there. This way you can fine tune easier. It also helps to make your houses close to job sites. And to have a market after you have established a good food income to distribute the goods rather than have the houses horde the supplies.
Anyways as i was saying managin population just requires constant balancing. Keep an eye on the age of ppl in other houses, there should ideally only be 2 ppl over the age of 10 in any house. If there are 3 ppl over the age of 10 in a house then one of them can move out. ( yesmthey move out early in this game at 10, if a home is available)
But at the same time dont make more houses than you have couples. For example if you have 1 person living in 6 houses then they are not coupling. I would destroy 3 of them and force the other 3 into those remaining for coupling purposes. Gender taken into account of course lol.
Nomads appear to appear when you have a very large surplus of food. This won't last, of course, but it looks like it is the developer's reward to you for kicking ass in your current game.
Nomads are also a function of your total population. The most I have gotten is about 20. I have seen over a hundred, in a let's play on youtube.
