Ok, so what you do is build your traders dock and staff it (just one guy will do). When the trader comes, they will have whatever, there are a few differnt traders who have different stuff. If you look towards the top right on the traders screen there is a button that says 'orders' or something of the sort. On this screen you can pick what you want to order from that trader and they will bring it the next time THEY come (again, there are multiple traders). Pick your cows/sheeps/chooks/rocks/whatevs, again at the top right of this screen there is a dropdown menu for 'use custom order' or something like that. It defaults to 'never' (so if you dont change it, no bastard ever brings you the right stuff) change that to 'just once' and you should have all the animals running in a few ingame years.

Sheep make wool, and when your pen is full, the excess will be killed for mutton, chooks make eggs and are killed for chicken. Cows dont make ♥♥♥♥ but when they are killed you get leather and beef.

Just a heads up about the traders. Cows are generally around 2,000, maybe 2,500, and sheep around 1,000 the first time the trader comes through. Once you buy some of that animal the next time they come through they animals will be cheaper. I think cows drop to 1,000 and sheep to 600 but definitely be prepared to drop some resources on the animals to get them. Seeds are 3,125 to buy them for the first time as well so plan ahead.

- to be more accurate, chickens give chiken meat when killed, that is different from venison from deer, so it is an additional food choice, as well as eggs.

- what is the price for cattle ? What price if ordered ?
(I never had the chance to have the proper merchant and need to stock leather clothes)

I bought some chickens (so i thought.. ) but i couldnt find them. They were not in the little pen in the traders post and i couldnt move them to a open pasture?

seeds 2500 - unless ORDERED then 3125

cows iirc 1000 each. sheeps 600 and chickens 600 (iirc)

all prices are 50% more if you special order them

All trader boats do not carry the same thing . Some are just food, some are just resources, others are just seeds and some are just animals.

Ah it seems i crossed the answers to my questions, apart that prices might be different according to difficulty level ? I used to see 2500 for seeds.

TY Mickey.

Its probably random within a certain range and randomly chosen at the start of the game. My current map is on Easy difficulty and maybe thats why things are a little more expensive.

If you buy just one cow/chicken/etc, will that be sufficient to start a pasture, or do you need at least two of any animal?

Also, wondering if anyone knows what the advantage to assigning multiple workers to the trading post? Do boats come more often that way or something?

I think having more trading post employees moves goods to and from it quicker. As for multiple merchants, only one merchant will visit a trading post per year, but you can always build more trading posts to get more merchants. Of course each merchant only visits one trade post, so with multiple ones you need to keep them all well stocked.

When a mommy cow and a daddy cow love each other very much...

The price only increases if you order the item in question.

That's 25%, not 50. 50% would be 3750.

First, more animals=faster breeding, but buy only what you can afford. Second, more workers means the stuff you're stocking gets there faster, assuming you still have any in stock.
