It's not a god game, it's a simulation of reality. In real life, quarries don't just get flattened out or turned into fish farms. They usually end up as a part of the terrain or turn into a lake or something. I think people need to realise WHAT the game is when they come up with ideas ;)
This kind of ideas are more like chooses but rather than a game mode restrictions, plus we did fill a lots of holes in our real life engineering, I think the reason most open pit mining hole didn't filled up is because it actually cost money, and most importantly, 'no one' will have any use of it because it usual in a wild place that no one will care.
But in this game, people dig it near their early city, and on later years, it just a hateful thing, and if that kind of thing happened in modern city, it will being too valueable fill it up, either make it park or something.
Plus we are not talking about filling something like grand canyon or modern pits, it just a old, small open pit that can dig by human powers.

But yeah.. this really don't seems like a game that will contains that kind of features, I think we just wondering that it will be too great to have that.

actually i live just 5 minutes from a quarry that someone made into a fishin place, love to hear fishermen telling stories how there is crane in the bottom they left there and trucks heh

It even says so in the description/tooltip that it's not removable once placed.

Its amasing they even knew what the quarry did if they cant read the WHOLE description

Fill it with dirt.

That's what I'd do.

Option to turn it into a small lake , simply add water . It would at least keep with the theme of the game .... just a thought .

Perhaps, adding prospecting and variable amounts of stone/iron/coal in the ground could be part of the solution. It's is absolutely realistic to refill a quarry and do something else with the land. Perhaps even build a canal and fill the hole, turning it into a lake. This is set in the early Medieval era of Northern Europe. Even during that time period, there were fantastic feats of engineering being accomplished in Europe. So why not add some intensive labour landscaping abilities to the game?

Maybe the spill from the mine could be redirected to the old quarry? I suppose it would'nt require too much engineering filling a hole.

also as much rain asnd snow as we get, water wouldn't be horrible, you'd be suprised how many old quarries around the world just filled in with water

My idea for the quarry hole is that over time it fills with water and then can be used for a fishing site.

I'm in two minds about this one - on one hand in the time that the game is set I doubt they'd have had any way to fill a hole the size of a quarry, and it would take a good while for rain to do the job. On the other hand they do ruin your nice town view!

Could wait for a visit from an immortal timetraveller and ask him to go back in time and move it, I hear they are common in quarries.
