They say that farming and cattle are for later, they say fisheries may work but you need to find a good spot (one that maxims the dock range with a greater water area).
You are not alone I am also struggling with the same issue, and as we are discussing in other thread later you’ll find that another problem is that often few houses take a lot of food letting other families to starve.
Have you tried a Gathering Hut? I may be wrong, but it is quite more than a farm.
let me try dock and hunting , sec
Edit Transitioned from gather to farms
Misinformation!
Also to help them out I put foresters beside the gatherers and put them on just plant to increase the amount of mature trees which help produce more foods they for the gatherers. I have several of these areas and my food production is through the roof.
-Gathering Huts are the best first food building.
-If you do make farms, a single farmer can easily take care of a 10x12 farm. Might want two for a 15x15.
-Once your food sources are getting spread out (i.e. you have a few gatherers/hunters fairly far away from town) build a market. The vendors will travel around to bring food/tools/firewood to that location, making citezens not have far to go for supplies. It also seems to make producers more willing to store supplies in nearby barns instead of the one in town, which means more time producing.
