Live stock : why can't i get it?
I arrived to an active population of more than a hundred; i bought a few seeds from different guys, but no one ever proposed me to buy live stock, so i could start my own chicken/mutton/beef farm; what am i doing wrong?
am i missing something?

you have to wait for a trader to bring livestock for trade, and since its random this may take a while.

...after 35 years, not even once have i been proposed that deal.. I'm loosing patience. I WANT MY BEEF.

Place livestock on the order form for every visit. Check them all. Some have livestock, but didnt bring any with them - you won't know for sure unless you check the order page.

There's usually an auto save that occurs before a trader shows up. Don't like what the trader has to offer? Load a previous save a the trader will be a different NPC with different goods. If you're lucky enough to spot him before he arrives save the game quickly. Just reload until someone is offering livestock.

As Itharus said, you can order them. I found I had to build two traders to speed up the trading time. I find there are a variety of traders. Some only do food and supplies, others only do live stock, and occassionally you get a mix of the two. I think you'll find that multiple traders will speed up your wait period, in combination with placing orders you'll have everything you need in no time.

Multiple trade posts gets you more traders? Seriously? That makes no sense at all. :-) But, good to know. Thanks!

Trader. If the livestock trader won't bring you cattle then just make a custom order. That trader only brought me chickens and sheep several times but when I made a custom order he/she brought cattle.

I never had the opportunity to custom order cattle.
I guess i'll just need to wait.

Had the same. Had built 2 pastures ready for my meatstock but think it took around 16yrs before a livestock trader turned up. Every time a trader turns up, check the orders page for seeds or livestock and order those for every visit. It can take time and I'm still waiting on my peppers.

Also be prepared! Chickens arrived just as I had a slight population crisis and no herders. I don't think they survive very long in the trading post stockyard so although it said they were available in my town hall, the herders were tending ghost chickens. Or they'd figured out farm subsidies.

But now I have sheep & beer, as soon as my peppers arrive my village can have it's inaugural curry night!

Ive got a feeling what you have stored in your trade post effects how long you wait for seeds/livestock offers. When I first put up my TP I under stocked itas I didn't have enough thing to store there. In those early years I got no seed/catle offers at all. Once I had excess goods to fill my TP I started getting the offers I wanted. Basically I think the traders have a sixth sense of what you are offering and if its close to what the want for animals etc they bring them to get the deal done.

Could be coincedence .....

To increase the odds, build more trading posts and more traders will arrive. Of course, you'll also have to stock these trading posts with something to trade or else the livestock trader might arrive in a post without any wares to sell. ;)
