Cant build dirt roads in the first tutorial

I've just started the tutorial and its asking me to build dirt roads, I've selected the tool but as soon as I click on the ground, anywhere (including the highlighted area), it says "a dirt road cannot be placed in this location". What am I missing?

drag it from start of highlight to end and it`ll be fine.

But thats my point, it isn't. It doesn't matter where I click, at the end of the highlight, in the middle, or somewhere else, it always says the same thing.

I've just restarted the tutorial and I have the same issue.

it's weird because i had the same issue but i quickly realized you have to click and drag from the fish side all the way to the end and. it gets a bit weird i know.

I have exactly the same problem. It doesn't matter where I begin the road, it won't let me place it, and I can't finish the tutorial. Seems like a bug.

Oh, OK, never mind. Apparently you have to build to road all in one segment, not as two. Not a bug then, just poorly communicated.

Yeah the tutorial can be a little goofy. I had a problem with the road as well. It's funny cause the developer even commented in his blog that he was surprised at how hard developing the tutorial was. Cause you need to guide people but you never know actually how they will do something in a free environment.

indeed, the tutorial doesn't explain it very clearly, but it works and when you play a "real" game, as in not a tutorial map, you can draw your roads just how you like it ;-)

Works fine for me. You have to place the entire road at once (it will bend).
