Game breaking? How so?
Oh lawd I see where this is going. I simply meant that if the point of the game is to advance your society, and having left disasters on (unknowing of their severity despite the name) I find the idea of absolute if not debilitating destruction counterintuitive to the directive. I can't believe there isn't a mod to turn it off, let alone a mod to turn off death all together for your people.
Is that to say there is a way to turn off death?
Technically, disasters rarely happen in Banished. In fact, that's a fairly common complaint among new players. They want it to be more challenging with more disasters. I even went through a period where I was spawning 10 tornados at a time just to get one to do anything I would need to try to recover from :)

However, when I don't want disasters, I simply start a map with disasters off. That's one of the starting conditions. If I want to turn off death entirely, I get a debug mod. You can find a link to one in here:

The simple answer to your question is "NO!"
If you want to play a game without disasters - start a new game. Simple.
Can you post a screenshot of the disaster your trying to recover from?
Are you sure the debug mod turns off death? I see it alters hunger and health, but nothing about turning off death? Maybe I misinterpreted what you said.
Also, I've decided to start a new game with a bunch of game boosting mods since for whatever reason the entire internet hasn't figured out how to mod out disasters. I have no other choice. Here's to hoping the mods don't make the game seem dull.
Im sure they can, but why would you?
Rushed into my first game without taking the time to research the severity of diasasters. Had it left on and after realizing just how devistating they can be I put my game on hold. Haven't played in 2 days because of no options to turn it off. At this point I'm considering just starting a new game with mods. Though I have a feeling the mods will overwhelm what to me was a simple, fun game and I'll most likely get bored and uninstall. Gamebreaking, at least for me.
