"A fatal error has occurred" while game was loading/launching.
While starting up the game I get to the loading screen, but then after a few seconds I get a crash where the screen goes black and a get a error message saying:

"A fatal error has occurred in igd10umd64.dll and the game cannot continue!

A crash dump has been written to
C:\Users\*me*\Documents\Banished\Save\Crash.dmp"

Solutions or tips/tricks would be helpful.

Edit:
My specs are windows 7(Service Pack 1), intel i5 2410M, with integrated graphics(I'm usng a work laptop).
How it's solved for me: Ran the game in 64bit and changed it directx 9.

I look it up. You use a intel chip right? So to solve that try the following steps:

1. Update you intel chip on the intel.com webseite (i know this advise are very common but this is a driver related problem so trust me that is the right thing) her is a link to the autoupdated of intel cards. But you need to enable java for that: http://www.intel.com/p/de_DE/support/detect (sorry that is in german but the webseite dont let me to change that) It need some minutes so please wait.

2. After restarting you PC and installing the new driver please go to this folder Steam/Steamapp/common/banished/ follow this steps her: You see 2 .exe files one x32.exe and x64.exe please use the .exe you system is based on (32bit or 64bit)
Instruction how to run the compabile mode in Win 8 are her:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/older-programs-compatible-version-windows

Try now to launch the game for Win 7 (maybe you need to download something that will be done automatically). If you use 32bit exe please try the 32bit version of win7 if 64bit use the another one.

I hope that solve it if not come back if yes enjoy banished.

I was getting this error and I changed the directx version in the settings of the game from 11 to 9 and that seems to have stopped the error. You might also need to run the beta 1.0.3 version of the game as well (not sure if that helped or not, but that's the version I'm running)

You dont need to do the steps anymore. You can just force the Dx9 mode of banished that will solve it. I had somebody else with this problem some minutes ago and solve it over forcing Dx9

To force the game into DirectX 9 mode, you can rename or delete VideoDX11-x32.dll and VideoDX11-x64.dll. These are in the directory that the game was installed to. For steam, these are VideoDX11-steam-x32.dll and VideoDX11-steam-64.dll.These are most likely in Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Banished. "

I was having the same problem. I moved the two files you mentioned out of the folder, and it finally got the game running for me! I'm wondering, should I save these files somewhere or just delete them? Thanks a bunch!

EDIT: Oh. I guess you did say you can delete them. Nevermind. Thanks again!

Well I solved my issue by running the 64bit version and using directx 9c. For the record, I am using windows 7(Service Pack 1), with an intel i5 2410 processor.
