Wood, stone, iron, coal and firewood are stored in stockpile, not barn.
Market will carry everything except stone and ale.
Removing the unbuilt market put my general labor back to work.
Then, again, I didn't try assigning Venders to a non-existant market - to see what would happen.
Being something of a newbie to this game I could be wrong? But, I believe that with the exception of an under-construction market, the game expects "Venders" to move materials to construction sites, once an under-construction market "foot print" is placed on the current map; in the current game session.
Or, stated somewhat differently, once "Venders" are introduced into a particular game session, only "Venders" may move -whatever- from stock piles and storage barns to construction sites (that fall within a Market's circle of influence)? maybe a bit broader definition? or maybe not quite so broad a statement?
The people who take things from a storage (regular one or market) and bring them to where they are needed for construction are the Labourers.
The builders (or anyone with a job that requires stuff) will come and grab what they need from storage/markets too, but if you really have a lot of construction work to do, better have a bunch of labourers to do the hauling of materials and let the builders spend their time hammering things together on build sites.
They will move the wood to the nearest stockpile. If you have too many construction sites going at once your builders get confused. Build slower.
First you need enough storage (Stock Pile tiles) to hold what is there, then you need less than the current limit for it to be transported to a Stock Pile.
