Laborer wont collect wood
I have tons upon tons of wood laying around now and i continue to be told im low on wood.
I actually dont have any left.
Laborers are idling not collecting any of the wood laying around at all. What is happening?

Its stopping me from continuing at all and my village will die of freezing if they dont start collecting it.

Do you have a stockpile they can put that wood on?

I have this exact problem with piles of stone on the ground and two completely empty storage barns. No villager collects the stone after mining it and so nothing gets built.

Check if you have stockpile space available.

Wood, stone, iron, coal and firewood are stored in stockpile, not barn.

Market will carry everything except stone and ale.

Are you using any mods?

I had a similar issue when I paused the building of my market; apparently once a market foot print is placed the general labor will only move materials to said unbuilt market; assuming that with a market you will have venders to collect and re-locate your food and materials.

Removing the unbuilt market put my general labor back to work.

Then, again, I didn't try assigning Venders to a non-existant market - to see what would happen.

Destroy the stock pile. They will move the wood.

To another stock pile? or to a construction site?

Being something of a newbie to this game I could be wrong? But, I believe that with the exception of an under-construction market, the game expects "Venders" to move materials to construction sites, once an under-construction market "foot print" is placed on the current map; in the current game session.

Or, stated somewhat differently, once "Venders" are introduced into a particular game session, only "Venders" may move -whatever- from stock piles and storage barns to construction sites (that fall within a Market's circle of influence)? maybe a bit broader definition? or maybe not quite so broad a statement?

Vendors are the people who move "anything" from general storage into a market. They will not move things from a market and to a construction place, unless they have no work to do and start acting like labourers, which is pretty rare.
The people who take things from a storage (regular one or market) and bring them to where they are needed for construction are the Labourers.

The builders (or anyone with a job that requires stuff) will come and grab what they need from storage/markets too, but if you really have a lot of construction work to do, better have a bunch of labourers to do the hauling of materials and let the builders spend their time hammering things together on build sites.

They will move the wood to the nearest stockpile. If you have too many construction sites going at once your builders get confused. Build slower.

For stone and logs - the storage location is known as a Stock Pile; Quarry for stones and Forester for logs should have the harvesting limits. There is also a Limits report - on the bar with the help button at the end?

First you need enough storage (Stock Pile tiles) to hold what is there, then you need less than the current limit for it to be transported to a Stock Pile.
