Help I keep dying to no tools
The only mod I'm using and want to use is colonial charter, I do not wish to use anything that increases the amount of resorces I get. Now this is my 8th time trying to play and I constently run into the issue of running out of tools. Basicly once I reach about 50 pop I die because I cant make tools fast enough either because I don't have the resorces due to everyone only grabing 1 iron at a time and walking all the way, having only 4 people left that can be used as a labor, the iron mine being absolute ♥♥♥♥, or just the Ai being stupid and not being the first to grab the tool they just made. Now Iron and rocks do not regrow like trees do which is one major issue I find, the quarry and iron mine are laughable useless things to spend resource on becasue they give maybe 10 resource a season unless I max them out which just kills my colony faster. Traders that trade this stuff never come by and when they do I can't trade food which is the only thing I have the option to trade eairly on. How the hell do I survive this, once the colony is out of tools there is no saving it other than cheating.

You must be doing something wrong, I never seen that problem before.
At first you collect as much as you can of iron from the map.
Then build iron mine.

At 50 pop I still sale tools to trader.
Perhaps a screenshot with as much details as possible will help us help you.

Build up tool inventory early with your initial educated people. Try not to waste iron on buildings. Only build what you need.

Build school to educate young people.

Try not to operate mine/quarry with uneducated people.

For the first 2-3 years, just focus on producing food, tool, and firewood.

* If you want to build orchard, wait until all tree have been planted then unassign the farmer. Come back to it 2-3 years later.

Which Colonial Charter mod are you playing with?

You've answered your own question.. How far are your people having to run to store the supplies?
Do you have stockpiles set up close by your iron gathers huts or mines? Do you have your markets working together? CHeck there radius area and find out. Do you have hardware stores and if so are they working together in the radious area for your people to get the supplies they need? Is Your blacksmith close by to your stockpile or stockpiles for supplies to build the tools needed? Are you lacking coal for log to develop the type of tools your wanting to build? In a pinch you could have them build wooden takes 2 logs.

I rarely build mines/quarries.They chew thru tools like crazy.I usually trade for iron, stone and coal.

In Colonial Charter you don't have iron but iron ore. So you have to make iron first with ore and furnace fuel. After that you can make tools.

Well, you can make Rough Tools with Iron Ore and logs, but they have a pretty low durability, so you'll eat through them pretty fast unless you keep producing a lot of them. Smelting the Ore to get Iron for better tools is pretty important.

i built the smith very early and my workers got the much ore out ironrocks.( 500+). Just scavenge the near land for it. Your smithery should have a output of 100 tools per year, that should be enough for 50 people.
After that i keep going by buy all tool, till i reach around 500 by building a "building supply" trader. He visit me once a year and i can buy 200-800 tool for 2 each.

Get rid of the mines, they eat tools, and just use the resources you have on the map, they should last a good long time. You can always trade for iron, stone and coal.If you really want to use mines, build up a surplus of tools first.
