How trading post work?

I am not sure how the merchant thing works as the help in game is kinda vague. Do I put resources into the trading post? Is it the "inventory" tab where I put in MY resources? How does it work?

Decide what you want as your economy item,usually firewood since all the traders will take it and it is renewable,and when a merchant comes you will see what he has to sell under the trade tab.Things like seeds and livestock can be very expensive so you will need a good amount of things to trade.Herbs are good also.Make sure you have at least 1 person working at the post.It's also a good idea to store extra tools and some food to keep for an emergency.

they have other uses as well. For example, you can "hide" items in a trading post so your people don't have access to them. For example, you could keep 50 tools in there just in case you forgot to make them and run out by accident.

Build multiple trading posts if you want more traders to visit.

If you use the ordering system, you have to remember to change the dropdown box to either "Just Once" or "Every Time". Also, you pay more for goods you order v.s. stuff they bring at random.

I don't fully understand the automatic trading options. So I never use them.

When buying seeds, you only need 1 seed of each type.

If you buy animals/livestock, they hang out in the trading dock until you allocate a herdsman and pasture for them. Then they eventually walk over to the pasture. They'll die if they stay in the trading dock too long.

Point if a trade post is visited once a year by a merchant, build two trade post will attract one different merchant to each post each years. Having one personn working at the trade post is not necessary for merchants visit you and for you can trade. However it s needed to move raws you want sells or buy from trade post to barns or stockpile.
