Megamod foundry water wheel
I'm using this mod and trying to use the foundry, as opposed to the forge, since it says it's supposed to be powered by a water wheel. But when we say "powered by a water wheel", I'm assuming this means it doesn't need furnace fuel, but it does. I'm taking this literally...POWERED by the water wheel, not simply eye candy. So am I misinterpreting the statement? If you're going to tell me something is powered by a water wheel, I'm going to expect it to be POWERED by the WATER WHEEL. Otherwise, you should just say "...and oh, it has a pretty little water wheel just for absolutely no reason what so ever..." After all, who ever heard of powering a smeltery using simple water...you need FIRE for that. :steammocking:

For that matter, the lumber yard also has a water wheel variation, but I don't actually see any difference between that and the normal one. Neither use any kind of fuel, so the difference apears to be entirely aesthetic.

Ok, point made, for the lazy people who don't like pumping a bellows by hand. :)

Still, it seems like a contradiction to say it's "powered" by a water wheel when it still needs fuel to power it. For this point, you should take out the "powered by..." statement and simply say it's a water wheel STYLE smeltery...still powered by fuel, no matter how you look at it.

The waterwheel powers the bellows, but it doesn't light the smelter fire or provide the fuel to keep the smelter fire going. Because it is powered by a waterwheel it produces materials much faster than any other smelter.

How would the mechanical energy from the water wheel replace the thermal energy the fuel provides?

There's nobody here that can change any wording to suit you. Contact the author of the mod.
