What type of enhancement are you looking for?
What does one consider a lot of content to begin with?? It is so very subjective. It has been my experience that this game while it isn't a huge game, has a lot of charm, and ingenuity, but one has to pay attention to how one plays, from day one to the last day.
Banished is always seeking to exploit the player's weaknesses, and end the game, but, meh, it really isn't for everyone. There is no armies, there are no conflicts, you cannot play first person, or even third person, in Banished, you are merely the Overseer, Placing buildings, and roads, and hoping the latest building doesn't tip the scales of the Banny Gods that Be.
- RK's Editor's Choice (1.3.1)
- Colonial Charter (1.76)
- North 7 (If you want a Norse feel, I haven't tried this one yet, but will eventually)
The first two add lots of new constructables and production chains, so you don't have everything by the time you reach 200 population, and your entire kingdom doesn't look like a copy paste of itself.
As for North 7, I don't think it adds as much as the others, but not sure. The focus of it I think is more on difficulty with the new theme.
Beyond that, there are mega mods that combine the first two along with additional stuff, but I've never used, I feel it might be taking things a little too far. Maybe in time I'll feel the need to upgrade to such mods.
Edit: Also, don't be fooled by my playtime, I have played this game well over 300 hours. About 100 hours vanilla, 200+ Colonial Charter, and now I'm doing RK's Editor's Choice, which so far I'm enjoying.
After playing Vanilla and CC, what can you say about the difference's between RK's Editor Choice, over Colonial Charter, What do you miss from CC, what do you prefer from RK's? What would you build as a mod if you could change anything you wanted about Banished in general, (wishlist, doesn't hafta be possible) If you could make CC or RK as a standard Vanilla for Banished, which one would you choose?
I am asking this, because I never really played with these mods by themselves, I started with Banished, as a First time Buy on Steam, and after about 800 hours of play Vanilla, I found Mods, lol. I downloaded MegaMod8 and never looked back. Now I am playing with MM9 and when I am done with that, I will play Vanilla again for a while lol.
I think I prefer RK's, but honestly can't say for sure, it's been over a year since I played last with CC, only recently came back to the game. If there is one thing I can probably say, CC has a lot more complexity in production chain from what I recall, but... RK's adds more base difficulty in addition to it's extras. Not a huge amount, but many vanilla structures seem to have different requirements, so early stages with uneducated settlers, you can burn through resources fast. Can't really say much more than that, would need to play CC again to recall everything.
Edit: I've also noticed, about 60 days into current game, still no Nomads. I know on Vanilla and CC I used to get Nomads constantly.
Thank you for the insight. Happy Gaming! Oh, and on my wishlist, I would love to have CC as a Base Standard Vanilla for Banished, if I could have anything at all. Then when adding in other mods, I will always have my favourite storage system available lol.
