What are trade animals?
There are both regular and trade animals? not sure of what difference there is, but I buought some trade ducks, and all I seem to get from them is more trade ducks being produced, not meat, feathers,etc..

Am I supposed to be selling trade animals back? if thats the case, where do I find them to put back in the traders?

A lot of very weird stuff with the New Mods.... !!!

Regular livestock are slaughtered for food when there are more animals than a pasture can hold. Excess Trade Livestock are taken to a barn where they stay until picked up by a Trader and taken to a Trading Post. The original "trade" livestock was Trade Horses; a mod for these was created because several people wanted Horses but didn't want their people eating them.

So trade animals are only useful for trading back to the trader. The ducks trade for 250 each, so having a steady supply of trade animals reduces the amount of other items you need to trade. Seems worth keeping a pasture or two of trade animals for this purpose.
I also have some trade Friesland Cows now, and will use them for that purpose as well.

They really are great trade items. So are the Domesticated Animals. You just need the stable and certain grains to produce them. Lets you build wool, egg and milk pens - then the rest can be traded.

The wool, egg and milk pens are small and fit nicely next to a house. I always figure that those animals are special pets of the farmer's kids. :)

That's a good way to justify pens. As long as they take the animals inside when it snows.

If they do that, I'll consider having pens...
