Toggle trees on/off
Hey guys🤙
Does anyone know of a mod that toggles the trees on/off to make planning/placing easier?
Thanks 🤙

That's something that's been asked for plenty of times, with the same answer - No. :)

When I am placing buildings in a forested area.. I will place the first one down. Then I will pause it, and keep it open, so the radius is shown still. Then I place the road, So that I cross road it, It helps a lot to do it this way, to get placements done easier.

I do the same. :) And, you can delete/cancel building either after you've go what you wanted to build finally arranged properly.

Some games are trying to get away from the "grind" system. I think Banished's variable buildings, especially with what can be added via mods, and the graphics style means it doesn't suffer as much as many "grid system" city builders. I do wonder if the next "Banished" is going to keep with that design or move to a more organic one, though.

(I'll often "chance it" during some building placements if I can't see the terrain clearly just to add a bit of extra risk/difficulty. Half of the fun of "city-building gameplay" comes from playing "city-builder Tetris" anyway. :))

Just made a little mod for this idea. It turns off only treetops to keep info about tree locations while planning. Toggling works by enabling/disabling in mod list. Check the workshop for latest mods.. :)

Are treetops on their own "layer" and that's how you did it? (That makes the most sense, IMO.)

Or, did you just make all treetop textures completely transparent and use the mod mechanic to supersede vanilla transmaps?

This. It's a simple texture overwrite.
