Application-steam-x64.exe -- HOW TO FIX IT!!!
Crash on Startup
"A fatal access violation has occurred in Runtime-steam-x64.dll and the game cannot continue!
A crash dump has been saved to [none-ya-business]."
Ever seen that before? Just kidding, apparently it's pretty common. I have "no sh*t" fixed it. Here's how:
Step 1: Navigate to the folder that holds all of your mods, patches, and files with the name "data" in it.
Step 2: Delete every single thing in that folder.
Step 3: Open Steam -> Right+Click on Banished -> Local Files tab -> Click on "Verify Integrity of Game Files"
Step 4: Wait for Steam to download the (atm) missing files
Step 5: Enjoy playing banished
"But all muh modz!" - will totally be automatically downloaded when you start Banished IF you subscribed to them through the game itself, not manually installed.
ANY BROKEN MODS will, conveniently enough, not be re-downloaded. So no more conflicts. So if you have a mod that doesn't come back, that's what your problem was.
"But what about the registry edit, and the Directx thingy, and the -" STOP... Name one person who has this issue who has never played Banished (as in, fresh into the game).
Just wipe the folder.
I don't know who posted this and I apologize to them for not being able to give them the credit. I also thank them because I followed these instructions and it worked! Good Luck!
By the way, I don't subscribe to mods here on Steam because I like to control when I update my mods. I get most of my mods from either World of Banished (worldofbanished.com) or Black Liquid (blackliquidsoftware.com). The mods on these sites are by the original modders and updated regularly.
If you crash whenever a Trader arrives for example, it's most likely an old mod that's touching something about old flags/limits and not playing nice with the new ones that were added in the last Banished patch.
If crashing when autosave happens, it's an issue with the antivirus incorrectly flagging Banished as suspicious. Need to dig in antivirus options to whitelist the game.
If using mods and crashing when a trader reaches a trade post, or when a building starts producing modded goods, it's most likely an outdated mod that messes up the new flag/categories added in the last Banished patch. In that case, check your mods' publication date and remove everything older than mid-2017.
