Crash dump
I have this bug which keeps cropping up on two of my savegames now. They load fine, play fine for a few minutes, and then crash. The error message says that there's been a crash dump but hey what do you know instead of plain text like every other game in the universe, it's in a .dmp file that I have no idea how to read. Scrolling through a mass of glyphs and rubbish, I find a message about a DLL file dying.

Does anyone know what it is that causes "Runtime-steam-x64.dll" to completely end itself?

Interesting tidbit: it seems that I can make the crash happen sooner by demolishing things. Not demolishing things: game lasts about five minutes. Demolish something? Bang and the game is gone.

Halp! :steamsad:

Do you have Windows 10? If so, the game may be crashing during auto saves because the Save folder is read only. In that case you need to change it to read/write. The other most common reason for crashes is that your anti virus thinks Banished is a threat - you will need to fix that. Lastly, there are sometimes small programs on your computer that are incompatible - sometimes if you scan the crash dump file, you will see the name of such a program and can delete it.

It happens to me everytime the Trader shows up. Everytime, like clock work, even with all mods turned off.

I guess you already tried de- and reinstalling the game?

Oh yes, the game's not even on the same computer anymore and I'm still getting this crash. Not every time now, but it happens every so often still.

Oh my goodness how didn't I think of that? Thank you so much!

Pfft, antivirus. I just run Windows virtually and nuke it if needs be! :steamhappy:
