If you are playing vanillla Banished, you need to have a Town Hall, Trader and a Market. You also need to make sure the nomads can reach your Town Hall. They spawn at the map edge and trudge across the landscape. They cannot cross rivers without a bridge.

Did you mean nomads? The answer given relates to them.

Traders should show up at your trading post so long as it's on a navigable river. No other buildings required.

You'd didn't build your trading post on a lake with no access right?

Its on a river that they have access to that goes through my town. I did have one trader come but he was only selling fish, and not much of it. I guess it just takes a while for traders to come.

I don't think multiple traders affects the number of boats you receive. I'm pretty sure it just increases the number of wheelbarrows moving stuff from the barn to the trading post 'inventory'.

AKA a specialized labourer.

Don't count me on that though, I may be wrong.

You are right. It doesnt affect it but having 6 workers in there helps move your trading goods from one place to another. The town that i had this problem with (named Chernobyl) is really really spread out so max workers help move goods faster

I usually build 2 trading posts. Each one has it's own set of merchants so you get 2x the merchants with two trading posts. There is a At first, they hardly bring anything, but it increases over time. This site has more info: https://banished-wiki.com/wiki/Trading_Post

Make sure you dismiss the old trader.

I'm pretty sure multiple trade posts make traders come more often. I have ten of them and I can't dissmiss them quick enougth. They also sell in insane volume and variation now,

A trading post with no workers still attract traders, they sometime take a long time to come.
