That's like buying food at Mc'Donald's just to play the Monopoly Board and not even eating the food.
Imagine this scenario: You enjoy the game like no other, you're addicted to the game and you're so addicted to it, that achievements become part of the addiction. It's a win-win situation. Not caring about achievements means you don't care about the game much.
I use achievements to inspire me to try playing the game in a different way.
What your describing is a job your not getting paid to do.
