Furnace fuel?
I made a smelter to make iron and it says it needs furnace fuel. I opened a coal mine but it don't seem to qualify as furnace fuel. So what is furnace fuel and whats coal used for?

You need a fuel refinery.

Coal can be used to make Furnace Fuel. However, you are better off turning it into Coke first at the Stacks Burner. 1 Coal become 11 Coke (if you have an educated worker). Coke can be used to heat homes too. The Stacks Burner also turns 1 log into 11 Charcoal while 1 log only makes 4 Firewood.

I believe coal is also used to make steel tools.
