You've used that picture from Salonika, 1915 again.

No need in fixing something not broken, Cpl. It is good that we celebrate such events of humanity, God speed Devs!

Finally - the event is here!

Thank you so much - and merry Christmas!

Except, it is broken. Using a picture from a different event, from a thousand miles away on a different front, a year later is most definitively getting it wrong.

Yeah I guess using a picture of the actual event is unimportant. So we'll slap a picture of a Soyuz capsule on a post about the moon landing or something. What's it matter right? Not like history is important. Who cares? Grief, let it go man. Nerds amirite?

Hi there! According to the Universal History Archive, this picture was taken during the Christmas Truce of 1914. Please refrain from insults.

I would also like to point out that the usage of a photograph should not affect your gameplay experience in the Christmas Truce in Verdun.

Have a healthy and merry Christmas!

Well, I'm sorry "NotLazyJustyCrazy", it wasn't. It was taken at Salonika in 1915. And I didn't insult anyone. If anything I was the one who had insults thrown at me.

English: Officers and men of 26th Divisional Ammunition Train playing football in Salonika, Greece on Christmas day 1915.

I suggest you check your sources. If it was me pointing out that the picture wasn't from the Western Front and wasn't from 1914 that was "insulting", suggest you don't wade into historical debate if you dislike being called out if posting inaccurately sourced photographs. There is no insult in being corrected. This is a frequently mis-sourced photograph.

At history.com the subtitle reads "Soldiers playing soccer in No-Man's Land during the Christmas Truce in 1914" for the same picture: https://www.history.com/topics/christmas-truce-1914-world-war-i-soldier-accounts

So two sources with different backgrounds. Maybe a historian can solve this (though in most cases different pictures are used to depict this great Christmas event in 1914, so I guess this picture may be indeed from 1915).

My response to this is, mate it's Christmas Eve, why is everybody arguing over something so inconsequential. The point of the Christmas Truce is so show people how humanity survived in the hellish conditions of WW1, and how the "enemy" was just the same on the other trench, as in yours. Scared young men send to die for the glory of the rich and the Monarchy.

It's very silly to argue about this dumb nonsense, when it's Christmas. We should be a little bit kinder.

I totally agree. Happy Christmas!!

Like I said ), I would trust the Universal History Archive more than Wikimedia Commons, since that last one is open sourced.

What I mentioned about refraining from insults is because I get a very aggressive vibe from your comments. Maybe they weren't meant that way, in which case I apologise.

Have a merry christmas y'all and enjoy the Christmas Truce! :steamhappy:
