as the title of the mod suggests, it's about 1918 late war tactics of which it is quite a decent representation.
As for dedicated games, there's currently 4 purchasable on steam:
1) The Entente Gold - a Cossacks sibling, if you familiar with that game, base building, lots of different troops, but no trenches. Also doesn't work out of the box on anything newer than Windows XP, fix can be found on steam forums;
2) "World War 1" - a Blitzkrieg sibling, more tactical than the previous one, infantry comes in squads, but you can't call in more troops yourself (at least in the campaign). Doesn't have any trench warfare either i believe.
3) Battle of the empires - a Man of War sibling, has all the bells and whistles of that game, the voice acting is atrocious however, and most countries are locked in by the DLC.
4) Agression: Europe under fire - a mix between a grand srategy and an rts, like Total War. Goes through both world wars. Very unstable, however, tends to crash a lot during ground battles.
again, as the game takes place in 1918, between the kaiserschlacht and the allies 100-day offensive you can imagine the smaller fights and skirmishes around villages behind the frontlines. the game also features quite sizable maps with a high popcap 'grand offensive' mode.
the thing with a ww1 steel division would probably be the lack of variety. With the lack of vehicle quantity and variety you have in WW2 i don't think it would translate too well into an infantry/artillery dominated scenario.
