Battlefield 1 Standard Issue Rifles new gamemode!

I know this community has had a lot of mixed feelings on BF1, with one of the biggest criticism being that 95% of the team runs around with SMGs, shotguns, prototype semi-auto rifles, scoped bolt actions; instead of the historical iron sight bolt actions we love in Verdun. In the newest patch set to release later this month, DICE added a new custom server game mode, called Standard Issue Rifles (SIR), where any class (not just the scout) can equip the iron sight bolt action (non-scoped) of their faction. For example, anyone on the German team can equip the Gewehr 98, Austro-Hungarians the Mannlicher M1895, British the SMLE Mk III, Americans the M1903 Springfield, etc... This will only be on rentable custom servers, and I'm sure they'll be some servers that will restrict certain primary weapons to create a more historically accurate weapon composition, e.g. only pistols, iron sight bolt action rifles, LMGs. What do you guys think? Personally, this addition has pushed me to buy BF1 if I see there are populated servers running SIR after the patch.

I am very excited for this mode. As soon as I heard about it I was super pumped! I really hope we can branch off of this to get a nice balance of historical accuracy and fun that Bf1 can provide.

In another post I wrote that if they had a more historically accurate mode I'd be even happier. Looks like they answered my wishes!

Excellent decision by DICE, hoping they add operations to custom servers so we can play them with SIR mode.

FYI for those who dont know: to find these servers you have to go to the server browser and type "standard" in the filter. There are several servers, but two 64 player conquest servers get filled. One is a regular located in Europe (played in it from US, no lag) and a hardcore American server (more bullet damage, no spotting, IMMERSION)

I've played twice today on a full server (I'm very lucky, these servers often don't have people on) and I really like this game mode. I feel this is the best mode for my playstyle. The server I play on allows LMGs and scout weapons but disallows semi-autos and all assualt guns. Standard bolt actions are allowed for all classes. This is the perfect set up in my opinion.
