Is this game still active in 2025 ?

As a new player what should I expect re toxicity, cheating, and being owned by experienced players ?

Is there a single player mode ? What's this like ?

Very small playerbase but it's possible to find a server. You can also play with AI bots as a sort of makeshift singleplayer.

Quite sure there's an offline mode, which I guess counts as single player mode.
Its pretty much just your average bot server, except you can only get the "Playing Offline" medal if I'm not wrong.

1. Toxicity is pretty common in the text chat, cheating is very rare but being owned by experienced players is something you won't avoid.
2. There is no singleplayer mode in usual sense, you can play online or offline with bots (local play) or Squad defence

always seems to be a few people playing when I get on. Play for awhile and people usually join your squad when they see that there's a real person in it. reminds me of the old days when there was no bots and at dead hours only a few people playing chasing each other around the huge empty map and waiting for the server to fill back up was soooo much fun. Def love having the bots fill in the gaps but it was fun having those quiet hours like a lull on the front in between offensives, just a few guys taking pot shots at each other and then it would slowly build back up.

Nowadays the action is a lot more consistent with bots but always fun to wait and see if a few more players join to make it more interesting.

steamcharts player numbers for verdun. Bear in mind all those guys are in a single server. so id say you get like 30ish people on during peak gaming hours. Game is still worth buying. Also there;s not a single player mode... BUT... they do have bots.

If you play during or around peak hours its still well worth it

As a flamethrower player I absolutely love making people believe its overpowered only for the people saying that to hop in and get mad at how weak it is lol
