Squad Leveling
Can someone explain how it works? Rarely do I ever see a high ranked squad.... and whenever i try to start leveling one it keeps reseting to like 3 or 1......

is it how long you've been playing and tracked personally or...

seems like it's pointless since no squad lasts long enough to get up there

You level up squads by playing with the same people. I play this game a lot with my brother and we're at level 40 when we're on the same squad. Try to invite friends or make new ones and work together to level up.
It's widely considered both broken and perfect by varying segments of the community. (Interestingly, people who have the time and friends to level a squad to 100 tend to think the system is fine.)

Basically, it keeps the idea that your squad mates level up together and gain new abilities. But I think these should be tied to the level of that person in particular. RIght now there's not really any incentive to level up yourself, only with a group. Which doesn't work large-scale.

THey even ban you from using cooler new uniforms even though they don't actually provide any benefits/bonuses!

In other words, it's another system to keep the power and the edge in the hands of the people at the top. And history has shown that no system that serves to keep power in the hands of those at the top can last.

In other words, a fun feature that only a single digit percentile of players are getting any use out of.

A-YUP! You just summed it up fifty times better than I ever could.

It's to encourage you to get a group of friends to play with, and as such is working as intended (and as such I like it).

But that still means a single digit percentile profits from the system, and they profit at the expense of everyone else because they get advantageous abilties over others. So it's broken.

Hmmkay then.

That's like saying its ridiculous that a level 1 player is at a disadvantage to a level 100 player. It isn't difficult to find a group of friends or people to play with on a regular basis, and the entire game has been built around this concept.

It is for intraverts and people with few friends.

ANd no, it's not at all like saying it's ridiculous that a level 1 player is at a disadvantage to a 100 player. It's saying it's ridiculous that a level 50 player is inferior to another level 50 player because he has fewer friends who like fps games.

I consider myself to be fairly introverted, but I have a couple friends whom still enjoy sitting down and playing a round or two of Verdun with me. And don't take my Steam Friends list as fact, most of those were/are regimental contacts for this event in Napoleonic Wars I used to run.

As well, you could always join a clan. There are plenty of them around, and it would give you a good group of people to play with.

perfect system my ♥♥♥.

Couldn't agree more. What a$$ thought this was a good idea? Sounds like CS:GO. Has to be a better system to implement squad play without me looking for some guys I happened to play with once [whom I don't know] from across the nation, just to level up. Should be per match and added to subsequent matches regardless of who I am playing with from game to game.

Ehh, I just feel as though people who have less time to devote to this game and have fewer friends shouldn't be at a disadvantage to players of a similar level who do have more time and friends.

And this isn't going by my STeam friends list, this is going by real life. Altogether, I have many friendly aquaintances who don't play the game and a few close friends who scorn my interest in first person shooters.

I thought this forum was about a new player asking a simple question about Verdun, not a debate about the Squad Leveling system.

Don't think it is quite as bad as you describe, anyone can be part of a high level squad. You just need to put in the hard work of playing with the same friends. Sad story, don't have friends? Play with strangers, play with enough of them over and over again, and the squad will begin to level up. Maybe you make new friends. Those abilities didn't happen overnight, it takes a concerted effort to rank up with players.

Also even players who have not done so can still join a high level squad if there is a slot available, and stil have taste of what that is like.
