And also, none of the French-made rifles in the game use stripper clips - the Lebel is loaded one round at a time, and the Berthier rifles have an en-bloc clip like the M1 Garand from WWII.
...although, to be honest, some classes could go without the stripper clips. The Lee Enfield takes an age and half to reload from 0 to full capacity with stripper clips. When you load one at a time (you do this with all non-en-bloc clip rifles before using up more than 5 rounds), you can at least stop midway through.
Actually the enbloc clips could be ejected, the devs just never bothered to add the animation. Or at least i think they do. The carcano uses the enbloc system and has a mechanism that ejects the unused bullets and clip from the top of the magazine.
I would really like to see this added at some point so your not stuck with one bullet or giving away your position by firing in order to reload.
This could be balanced by it being a longer reload as you have to open the bolt, eject the full enbloc clip, put it back, then get a new clip and insert it into the magazine and close bolt.
Also i honestly think the balancing thing for this is crap, all soldier carried the stripper clips and therefore they should have them. i find that the greandes being added isnt as monumental of a game changer as the devs think in order to warrant getting rid of the clips. Also who in the right mind would carry 60+ bullets without any clips...........
it has to be unlocked in rdm. which in rdm makes sense.
Right you are Seangis, I also think that the current amount of ammo they give you in the rifle loadout is kinda nuts. From what I understand, and I'm gonna use the Geweher 98 as an example just because I happen to know from looking at the magazine pouches that the average German rifleman didn't carry a hundred rounds of ammo as depicted in Verdun. The real number is more like 60. They had 3 magazine pouches on either side of their belt buckle for a total of 6 each holding 2 5 round stripper clips. So the grand total is 60 and to my knowledge most if not all of it was loaded on stripper clips so in my mind its more conventiant to shoot the whole 5 rounds out of the magazine(in the rifle) and reload it with a full stripper clip rather than shoot 1 or 2 and single load as that would require taking rounds off a full stripper clip and thumbing them in which would take longer.
Loadouts with and without stripper clips/chargers(the term is interchangable) is kinda strange in my mind and the same goes for bayonets as most soldiers carried them and they were just somthing you used because it was easy. For the same reason its easier to just put a bayonet on and take it off rather than having to go back into the class system and pick another class just because you want a bayonet the same thing should go for stripper clips/chargers. Most soldiers with rifles in WW1 (apart from the Lebel) had them just like they had bayonets so you shouln't have to do a dance and pick another class just to get somthing every soldier at the time already had in their gear.
I fire 3 shots of 5 in the mag.
Now i want to feed in 3 new and still keep the 2 that are left.
The bolt has locked the bullet in the chamber and wants to throw it out when i cycle the bolt so..
Either I had to let the bullet flick out and have 3 new + 1 replacment bullets to load, or hold my thumb/palm over the breach and "catch" the bullet and then push it back into the mag and then add the 3 "new"..
In the game..
I have 3 left in the mag, cyckle the bolt and there are still 3 bullets left when it should be 2 with the current gameanimations.
(Just tried it with Gewehr 98 ingame.)
