There is the long standing issue between the hipfire of the Lewis vs the Chauchat and it's not reached a consensus.
Grenades and precise rifle fire are some things that can help. Other than that, there are plenty of ways to outsmart people in this game, generally speaking.
Edit: Chapter 7, pg. 134 talks about lewis gun trench clearing.
+1, if u ever heard lewis gunner coming, just take a step back and aim for his body (as he can't run if no nco in high level squad around and can't quickly go prone without setting up the MG) and shoot through supression. Works most of the time for me ^^
I have only been playing for a month now, but I have not yet seen a team win when someone on the other side starts hipfiring with the lewis.
The Lewis gun and its gunner aren't any more difficult to defeat than any other player who has breached, quite easier in my opinion. You'll see this if you stick with verdun . A lot of new players are fearful of the Lewis in game because they don't know its liabilities .
Neither I nor any of my teammates find the Lewis gun to be OP in any way. And the players in X that are good machine gunners actually prefer the Chauchat when we play entente.
Thanks for the reference! One of the reasons I like this game is I am a history nerd who is facinated with WW I. The portable MGs just feel out of place to me (including the MP-18), and ruin my ability to immerse myself in the game. Of course, it is a game rather than a historical simulator, and different people are looking for different things from the game.
The lewis would be a great deployable entente gun if it didn't have crap visibility.
Although if any changes was to happen with the sites of the Lewis gun how do you think the developers could make the sights more pleasant to use?
