Running out of Ammo
I think that players should have a smaller amount of ammunition. Whenever people run out of ammo they will be more inclined to use melee. Also If a system of capturing weapons were implemented this would make that more useful. People should be able to request and give each other ammo. This will encourage teamwork. I also think that there should be ammunition boxes in the rear trenches that you could bring forward to help supply the guys up front. This should give the carrier massive points and if it were done well it would give that team a great advantage over the enemy. A system like this would help to simulate the importance of logistics in real Warfare. For example In the battle of Islandwana the better armed British lost to a force of Zulus because they couldn't get enough ammo up to the front line. I think this would add another interesting element to the game. What do you guys think? Is this a good idea?

I agree with most of this however the British army lost at Isandlwana because Chelmsford split his forces and tents were never struck.

Zulu war was completely different. Islandwana the men were on the march and didn't expect to be attacked so the ammo wasn't set up. WW1 the average Soldier was issued between 100-180 rounds for their SMLE.

Yeah those are two of the main reasons they lost but ammo also had a lot to do with it. The British were actually winning at first but then the front line ran out of ammo. They didn't have time to get their defenses set up and establish logistics like ammo runners. For comparison the guys at Rorke's drift were well fortified and had access to ammunition and they did remarkably well against the horde of Zulus.

That is true since they were stationary a lot of the time in WWI they had big stores of ammo in trenches. Whenever they went over into no man's land, they would have run out if they overextended themselves. If they took an enemy trench but no ammo was brought up to that trench they would run out. Even if it weren't necessarily completely realistic don't you think that this would be fun?

Yeah they could be over extended and run low, which is represented ingame if you survive that long by the inability to resupply. The reserves would still have ammo.

No, I don't think running out of ammo would be fun, I hate how Recon spawn can cause me to have to run through 2 or 3 trenches just to get to the jump off point. I'd rather get killed than run back and forth just to reload and it'd probably be quicker to respawn.

People almost never survive that long. The idea is that the reserves would bring up ammo so you wouldn't have to run back and forth. I think this would increase melee and teamwork.

but you are the reserves because you die. It wont work because the players wouldn't have enough ammo to supply those that run out without speeding up the speed they run out of ammo. Can't have a squad role base around it as it would need to be in all the squads.

The ammo consumption would be sped up because people would be given less ammo in the first place so that it would be possible to run out. Re read my original post. I absolutely agree that this should NOT be a role. no one would want to play it. I just think that there should be ammo boxes anyone could carry up for extra points.

I posted this earlier but I still think it is a good idea.
