Is this game worth it for solo players?
Hi - I'm in the mood to try a WW1-themed FPS but I don't play online. Is the game worth playing with bots?

In my opinion, Absolutely!

I play with the bots on hard and they are relatively competent. You can also adjust their accuracy, the range at which they engage, and the damage that they can do. The addition of bots and the customizable match mod has made this game much more enjoyable to me.

You can put a password on the room if you want to be alone or with just friends or you can leave it open and let whoever wants to join you. I've definitely been having fun with this game in "bot mode". The best part is you can limit the nationalities involved in the battle so you don't have a bunch of different uniforms on the same side running around. That always annoyed me.

Hope you have as much fun with it as I do.

Thank you! How does this game compare with Battlefield 1? I know the latter has a solo campaign but I heard it's pretty bad.

Battlefield 1 at its core is still an arcade shooter. Verdun is way more on the realistic side.

No. I would not recommend this game for people who do not want to play multiplayer. That is because there is no dedicated single player content like a campaign or anything. It's just multiplayer modes, but instead of players you are playing against bots.

But is it still fun? I'd get the game during a sale so it's not like I would need to play hundred of hours in order to make the investment worth it.

Way better than Battlefield 1 in my opinion. There is no "campaign" for Verdun or Tannenberg, but there is a map rotation even in "bot" matches. Again, I'm having a lot of fun with it. You can play matches with up to 240 "players". Really feels like World War 1.

If you pick it up on a sale, I think you have a winner. Even at $20, I think it's worth it.

I guess if you pick it up on sale it would be fun but the game modes get pretty boring pretty fast. The best mode that you can play by yourself is the horde mode called squad defense where you try to survive as long as you can. This is the best mode to play solo because the game doesn't change between 1 player or 4 because it's all about surviving wave upon wave of AI charging at you.

The other modes are pvp modes where you play against the bots instead of players. While the bots are pretty competent, it's just not the same or as immersive against real people because well they're Bots. Bots are more of a stop gap then a replacement for players.

It will be servicible but I would generally not recommend this game for single player content.

Thank you all for the feedback. I will probably give it a try next time it's on sale.

The bots are pretty okay and you can mess with custom settings to make it more interesting (higher bot count/difficulty/etc)
