So, first: it is 08/15 and 08/18. For the difference, the 18 one should be lighter as it doesnt have the water tank in the front which makes sprinting easier and possible wirhout being on nco range at high level squad. At least as far as my knowledge goes.

Ah yes sorry about that. It's 1:20 in the morning here so I'm a little out of it.
Anyways so it's just a straight upgrade then? Whats the point of the mg 08/15 then?

You get thinner sights if I'm not wrong, and a c96 instead of a luger

Personally I like the mg 08/15

the point of the 08/15 is that it was the most common German "light"machinegun. the Germans were impressed with the Lewis and used every captured one they could find, but they had no weapon similar to the Lewis. the 08/15 was basically a whittled down version of their heavy Maxim MG08, but it was still clunky to move around. additionally, the 08/15 went through long trials on the battlefield before gaining common status in spring of 1917.
the 08/18 was easier to carry, but it arrived very late in the war and should be considered a rare weapon.
