This patch has some final preparations for our launch on the Epic Game Store, as well as general fixes. You will always be able to play with Epic players, but as written below, you can link your Epic and Steam accounts in order to enable cross-store invites. Linking your accounts will make your Epic friends show up in the in-game Friends menu, so you can invite them like you would Steam friends.

  • Added a button under Account settings in the Main Menu to connect your Steam account to your Epic account, in order to play with friends on the Epic Games Store. For more information about this, visit our community Discord.
  • Changed server regions to EU, US and Asia in anticipation for higher concurrent player count

  • Bot support: Bots can now be added to Private Frontline matches via /setfillbots. Default enabled to a 64 fill-up in the Frontlines 64 gamemode.

    Since their deployment in the Gallipoli campaign, the so called “Diggers” from the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps were reorganized and deployed in tough places on the western front. Capable of dealing with enemy strong points such as Messines (tunneling), the Hindenburg line (Bullecourt) and developing "peaceful penetration" tactics in 1918.
  • The ANZAC bring in the following weapons to Verdun
    • Webley Fosbery: The Webley-Fosbery was of unusual design with the zig-zag grooves on the cylinder. Because of this design it was much easier to fire accurately and thus popular with target shooters. It saw limited action during WW1 as a private purchase weapon, never being adopted because of easy fouling of the mechanism.
    • Entrenching Tool: The desperate nature of the fighting in the trenches saw the use of entrenching tools as effective melee weapons. The 1908 E-Tool was carried by most commonwealth troops and was easily accessible as a melee weapon.

The focus of this update was a big push on the networking front and many general bugfixes and improvements. Other notable Verdun-only changes are the optimized players characters.

    Networking improvements:
  • Networking improvements: Greatly improved smoother movement for players affected by bad pings, jittery pings or packet loss.
  • Networking improvements: The network postions are now twice as accurate (where you see the players compared to where they are actually on their screen). This greatly reduces "shot behind cover" issues.
  • Ping warning will now flash yellow above 200 instead of 250+ ping

    - Stance switch heights so that there is less chance of feet sinking into terrain
    - As certain low heights are simply too low for crouched and too high for prone, so you won't be able to deploy on those heights
    - Note that clipping still may occur, especially when deploying into crouched on steep terrain
    - General deployment improvements:
    - Deploy spot picking isn't influenced by breathing cam movement anymore (this would sometimes making the icon appear and disappear while standing still)

  • We now show a network health stats if they are not healthy values. It shows: Host migration, Jitter, Ping and packet loss. This can always be accessed by enabling opening the options screen. Hovering over will display the stats. Using this information we can identify why some players are having network issues such as teleportation and shots not registering.
  • Backspace in chat can now be held down again to remove multiple character

  • Made it easier to play offline: When steam is in offline mode, force offline mode
