Terrible optimization?
Hello, I'm a new player here. I'm having major fps issues with this game. I get from 20 to 35 fps with everything on low, resolution 720p with 100% scaling which is barely playable on a laptop that handles many better looking games out there. I can lower my resolution to potato levels like 800x600 but it doesnt help at all, only get a 5 or 6 fps boost and even then it's completely unplayable as you cant see the enemies with such a crappy resolution. The game looks like absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at the resolution and I still get 39 fps how the hell is that supposed to make sense is beyond me.

Already tried the -force launch option commands, d3d9 one doesnt even start the game (InitializeEngineGraphics failed), opengl makes the game run ever worse with 10fps (wow!). Is there a way to optimize this game's performance or is it beyond the helping point?

Computer specs:
i7-2630qm quad core 2,9ghz
Nvidia GT 540M 2gb
10 gb ram

Also I should note that the game is running on the Nvidia card, I've already checked that. Thanks in advance.

Tried tuning some of the program settings for the game (1914-1918Series.exe) in your Nvidia Control Panel to Performance?

The issue is your GPU. Most games nowadays require at least 4GB of VRAM to operate well (being 60FPS+). Your processor is also a part of the issue here, but the GPU you have is so weak the processor shouldn't be bottlenecking it at all. The best thing i could recommend for you now is look into upgrades, even if it's just a cheaper Nvidia 1050 or 1060, you'll be able to run many more games at a much higher performance.

For example, my setup is an Intel i5-4690k @ 3.8GHz. an EVGA 1070ti FTW2 8GB, with 16GB of Corsair DDR4 RAM, and a 2TB HDD. I get between 130-150fps on Verdun at Ultra quality depending on the lobby size. Back when I had my EVGA 970FTW 4GB, I could easily get 80-90FPS on High quality.

Your issue my friend is hardware based, not game based.

Sorry friend but I can't take your answer seriously when you only look at a tiny portion of the text and dish out an answer like that. I already said it's a laptop so obviously no upgrading apart from Ram memory and hard drive.

On to the topic:
I'm not looking to play the game at Ultra with 130-150 fps as you said. Hell, I would be satisfied to at least be able to run the game at 50-60 fps on low. Having the res on 640x480 with 50% resolution scale and still getting 39 fps is obviously hardware related but it's not what you should be getting with these settings anyway so I dare say the game is optimized poorly. I can run many other games that look much better graphically without a problem.

Also, how come using -force-glcore lower your fps even more when it's supposed to do the opposite?

So he should upgrade his PC to play a 20 $ game that has ps2 graphics, and not because its just the devs who are terrible at optimising the game, not only was the optimisation messed up pre update, its even worse now.

To say for my example :
I used to run the game at 60-80 fps on low with 1366 res

Now I run it on 40-60 FPS on low with 50% resolution scale with 1366 res
