Yeeeeeeeeeah no. You don't think the MG08/15 has enough good things going for it already?

I haven't came across any source saying it was hipfired in the war. Seen some modern gun vids showing hipfiring it and being rather awkward. It was a heavy weapon with no forward grip.

Plus as Savage says it would end up getting heavily nerfed if it did have hipfire.

Othais from C&Rsenal does it once:

It indeed looks awkward.

Let's say IF we should consider the MG08/15 to be hipfired, what would be the changes to the weapon, the functions around the weapon, and to the opposing side's machineguns?

I know devs will NEVER make it hipfired, it's dumb and arcadey, but let's just play around a litte.

I'd expect it to finally get the damage nerf, have the worse accuracy of any hipfired MG and get a really long reload and possibly more recoil when deployed.

I'd also say that when you move and hipfire, your movement speed should be reduced by at least 50%.

Or we could give it more ammo and make it two hit kill, like it should be.

This would be awsome, but im concerned it would screw balanance.

I'd prefer not to see this added. Pretty damn awkward, and it weighs 50 pounds. No one in their right mind would do this.

Making an MG that already has good accuracy, good rate of fire and the highest magazine/belt size of any MG in the game 2HK would screw with balance, really? It would improve balance.

Giving the MG08 hipfire would be just as bad of an idea as making the shotgun able to be slamfired, like some people have requested.

Just because it could theoretically be done doesn't mean that you should be able to do it in the game, especially given how rare/desperate/impractical/risky this would have been in RL.

It probably shouldnt be hipfired given its weight however, It seems like its been nerfed far enough. why dont we give entente a nuke and call it a day? It has far worse accuracy and depending on the hit , ive had enemies take make 6-8 hits before kills. Guns less useful unless used at close range which is hard to arrange under fire. 2 hits kills and not as accurate as it was but not so innacurate you waste 200 rounds on 4 enemies. Just a thought.

How about the MG-15, or MG-08/18? Those are rather light, so they could possibly be carried with hipfire.

MG 15 is an early 30's weapon. If you mean the Bergmann MG 15nA that seems more reasonable with a weight of about 12 kg. MG-08/18 is about 14 in tripod form. and given the lewis and chauchat are about 9-13 kg doesnt seem too unreasonable. However these weapons were typically not used from the hip. MG's are usually mounted or positioned further back than this game expresses or allows usually, and even LMG probably wernt used as run gun trench weapons often. They are suppressive weapons that are ment to be used as a group closes in on the target.

I just wish they would fix mounting, or give us HMG that are moveable ONLY along the trench line, so they dont just get bombed the moment someone gets on them. Not sure how it would work but id love to hear how it cant work.

These are LMGs that were intended to move up as support of the infantry, the HMGs couldn't be moved and deployed easily to keep fighting but the LMGs could and would help them secure a trench if captured.

Another issue hipfiring these is they have no forward grip and the barrel is more exposed means you will burn your hand very quickly compared to the water cooled jacket. The lower weight might also mean more recoil.

I sorta ment like, 1st or second line friendly trench have one hmg that is chosen by a gunner role of line infantry or whatever and it stays there for the match but only have it positionable along the area of that trench. Not sure if thats possible or even worth it at this point. Feels like machine guns are kinda broken in the last few builds.

And your right about the heat. Awful burns if you held onto a barrel.
