140

Why 140 is my favorite game
This game is awesome. Fantastic soundtrack. The first game where I have seen music and rhythm integrated in a way that is actually fun and complementing. So, simply put, if you have a feeling for beats and electronic music, you might just love this game, and if you do not, you should probably not try it.

The trippy, minimalist graphics are well put together too. You are a square for non-movement, a circle for movement to the sides and a triangle when jumping. It all feels very intuitive and logical for some reason. There is no HUD, no options, no tutorial, it all just works itself out. As it should.

The puzzle mechanics are challenging, but never frustrating or boring. They reminded me of earlier experiences playing Braid and Portal, in some way. Your brain somehow adjusts to this strange new world and you are able to solve new problems in this way.

All three boss levels are incredibly cool. So simple, so basic, yet so fulfilling. I had two friends watching when I played this for the first time; they were hypnotised and completely immersed too.

After finishing the game (which doesn't take long, about an hour), you have the option of finishing all three levels in mirror mode without save points. It's a heck of a challenge, but very fulfilling, I can say. The mirror levels will definitely be frustrating at points, and highly addicting.

I sincerely hope the developer (who apparently made 140 in his own spare time) will create extra content or (even better) a sequel. For me, this man is a genius, both in creating a game that is actually fun and in integrating pretty awesome electronic music into it. This game is, hopefully, just the tip of the iceberg from him! Until then, I am sure I will keep coming back to 140 to just enjoy the fun and get lost in the music.

it's such a cool game! i love the concept of exploring levels which are in turn, entire dubstep songs with basslines and such to navigate. I only wish there were more levels

Well said dude. I'm about to start playing it, and I already know it's going to be amazing :)

You only own 11 games on steam? I can see why this might be your favorite. :beatmeat:

Re: OP

Calm down.

Seriously.

Just calm the f*** down.

I see words like "awesome," "fantastic," "actually," "love," "very," "sincerely," and lots of equally emotional and subjective phrases and sentences.. and I can't help think that you weren't thinking clearly when you created this thread.

Just calm down and try to write a less impassioned irrational review so people can actually take you seriously.

It seems sincere to me.

It was actually very sincerely written, with lots of love. That game was just awesomely fantastic to me.

It is a good game, but £4 for 30 mins is overpriced really. I know there are the challenge modes but they aren't anything extra, and I definitely won't be having a go at the third one considering I couldn't get my head around the final boss completely the first time.
Oh as a final note, Knytt Underground has some music based challenges in it too which are pretty neat too.

My thoughts: I love platformers, I love rhythm games, I bought this one on the humble store for like $1.something, still I thought it was too short for its cost. The game is cool, the mechanics are cool, intuitive, inventive (except for the second boss, which I didn't really like), and the controls were perfect, the mirror levels were a nice touch too, but overall, it is too short to actually evolve imho, right now, it looks just like a prologue to a game.

Damn. 1.9 hours to complete ALL levels? Or did you play the DRM free version beforehand?

totally agree with everything OP said. <,:

I didn't say it wasn't sincere. I basically said it was overly emotional and irrational.

Not something that can be taken seriously.

What's your point? There's always something worse, idiot.

I'll take calm rational reviews over overly emotional and irrational ones any day as well.
