For example on my build: If you could not manage to replace lightsaber with ripsaw, you probably shouldn't take the djinn lamb. Because lightsaber will eat the regeneration stacks from lifebinder.

Magic Staff + Shovel Shenanigans.
I actually put too much speed on the staff to have it keep pace with the mana gains on the last book invulnerability, in the future I just won't bother with that, or not be stupid and only have 2 blueberries 1 mana orb.
Magic Staff in basic setup is so much better than the Acorn staff it feels like, like why would I want to burn so much mana on non ramping growth when Ranger gathers up so much luck anyways? An item I'd be interested in seeing them release eventually would be a weapon with mana drain/mana burn on it. Make it either steal mana, or hurt the enemy based on how much they gathered.
Either way. Magic Staff + Yggdrasil Leaf is great.

Been destroying all them pesky flashers with variations of this build.
Well, more like teching against them with books, but good synergy w/ the rest of the build.
Top defensive priority is books + mana gen, next is shields + corrupt crystals (generates a crap-ton of armor)
It's pretty hard to set up and stabilize though, and if you can't draw a scythe you can safely switch to a darksaber build instead. (they tend to use 1 poison goobert)
Anything is fair game early game, just need half decent weapons and focus on maximizing coffin poison. Wanna start w/ poison gooberts asap and have at least 1 by turn 7~8 with the scythe.
I tend to start with shovels or beefed up frying pans. Claws of attack are also pretty ideal, good poison trigger later in the game.
My fave arrangement is giving the gooberts gloves to look like creepy priests wielding books of light lmao (peak form and function)
0.6.2
Reaper
Hex Hammer
The basic strategy is to load up on daggers to trigger off of the hammer's stun. My damage last round was 38% poison, 28% Spectral Blade, 10% Hammer, followed by everything else. This was my first hammer game and it seems fine, but the stun does not prevent you from getting nuked by light/darksabers. You need to be buying every dagger you see, and at least one Spectral with mana generation to support it is mandatory. I won the first few rounds, but lost several during the middle rounds because daggers were not showing up. I did not get any gems in my shops, but sapphires would be absolutely godly for both debuffs and mana. The hammer has the ability to break piggies for 5 coins, which is pretty good econ; you can also turn off fusion if you want to carry the piggy for a few turns first.
Manathirst was a mistake, do not build it.

0.6.1b: Ranger: Shovels + Magic Staff + Yggdrasil Leaf
At first, was planning to go 1 Shovel + Magic Staff, so didn't get clover to complete second Lucky Piggy. Got 2 Shovel instead of 1 since stamina permits it.
Rotated the Ranger Bag and its contents, since not getting daggers.
Sold bunch of Pocket of Sands in order to add Djinn Lamp, Pineapple, and Onions.
Note, initial manas obtained from Yggdrasil Leaf are consumed immediately by Book of Light. This makes Cap of Resilience's first 2 seconds obsolete, so later sold it, and got more Strong Heroic Potions in its place.
Probably should've cut-down on Strong Heroic Potion and instead get 3 Onions instead of 2, as Djinn Lamp had trouble triggering by lack of block.
Didn't have much luck with gems in store in this run.
0.6.1b: Reaper: Shovels + Lightsabers + Nocturnal Lock Lifter
First tested on unranked, and it seemed to go well, so did it on ranked. Pretty good.

First get couple shovels and bananas. This gives good survivability on beginning rounds. Get 3-5 bananas, as it is more difficult to get it later. Get Blueberries, daggers and Mana Orbs as fitting.
Get Lightsabers and Demonic Flasks whenever possible to make Darksabers. Whenever Heoric Potion appears, buy it to make Strong Heroic Potion. Repeat until end of game.
This build may work for Ranger as well, but in Lightsabers. The build would be for critical and Yggdrasil Leaf.
0.6.2 an uncommon variation of hammer-dagger build on ranger where you don't get any mana orbs and instead get to stack vampirism. Less explosive start than with spectral daggers, but much more resilient to thorns.
Prerequisites for any hammer-dagger: an early hammer and at least 1 dagger, otherwise you're losing at least 3 early rounds.
Pick up every single piggy and either crash them with hammer to stay ahead of the gold curve, or turn into lucky piggies for higher stun chance on a hammer.
For food -- bananas (can use all 4 of 'em later in potions) and carrots (important to cleanse blind early and to ramp up damage late).
For potions -- most are good, a health/armor potion belt helps in burst mirrors, a stack of heroics is how you don't get absolutely wrecked by shields and fatigue in general.
Once hammer + 2-4 daggers are online, its time to upgrade daggers, either to blood, or to spirit form. For blue daggers you need ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of mana, so 1-2 more orbs than daggers, or a bunch of blueberries. Just don't upgrade to poison daggers on ranger, its completely useless.
Notably screenshot is missing an acorn necklace, you kinda need one.

Reaper - Mana vampire:
Defense:
2x book of light (against blind debuff)
1x armor of any type (sapphire gems works nice to generate armor)
Offense:
1x Magic Staff (with best sapphire gem you can get)
1x Manathirst (with second best sapphire gem you can get)
3x Vampire gloves (1 pair of gloves may be replaced with a blood goobert if no gloves show up in shop)
Buff:
LOTS of mana generators
1-2x Djinn lamp may help in prolonged battles
Portions:
1x Stamina potion
2x Health potion

going for omega goob not really necessary. but goobert builds with multi goobs are pretty okay if you use rapier or manablade when hunting for goobs + vamp armor and spikeshield. spike is a nice way to trigger goobs vs many builds.
0.6.2.b
Reaper - Poison dark saber
So basically just modified my usual double poison goobert build, does insaane damage with dark saber added in, tends to end matches pretty quickly so less of a war of attrition. As usual the hardest part is the set-up, I find rushing double shovels or shovel + another weapon stabilizes things best.
0.6.2b
had to decide if i take the Dagger or the Rapier, decided for the Dagger cause feared the build will be too stamina draining with the Rapier but the Dagger was apparently not enough.
0.6.2b
Reaper stunlock dagger build (perfect run)
So I went for this on a whim after picking up 2 discounted daggers and finding a hammer, thought I'd lose the run but turned into a monster of a build instead.
Might have been smarter spamming vampiric daggers for more surviveability, but this worked out fine too.
Doesn't even deal insane damage or anything, but with all the stuns/stamina drain your opponent eats they can't really do much as you poke them to death.
Had just 2 trumpets til the final round, was more than enough but got the 3rd for the overkill. Nice synergy with gems too tho tbh that was just extra fluff. At least 1 spectral daggers seems pretty important for DPS. Poison did good work raising that crit% too.
And yeah orb and books to tank burst, the lamp didn't really do anything and never activated the buff tbh so wasn't needed, but good orb activator at least. Half the battles I didn't even activate my potions, was kinda one-sided.
