They should fix the blur issue, I've tried many combinations but still couldn't get rid of the absurd amount of blur game has.

Take it from me, someone who's been playing, modding, translating, and loving these games since release: This product is inferior to the original game in every way.

First and most importantly, this is a censored game.

Armed with revisionism, this "new" GSC has seen fit to remove not only the original voice acting, textures, currency, but even parts of the map. They even took out the stone slab sign in front of CNPP, an iconic landmark, because of this revisionism. If you play this, you're playing a gutted, inferior version that wasn't what was originally put together by the original developers. Whether people like it or not, Soviets are a part of the Zone and adds to its atmosphere. You can't jank it away due to current happenings.

Let me make something very clear about the localization: Ukrainian was NEVER this game's "original language." This is something GSC keeps saying because of the war that's been going on. All three STALKER games were created in Russian first, then got translations. Yes, even Ukrainian language was a later update. Even the design documents were in Russian, because the developers were speaking Russian. People need to understand that languages are tools for communication, nothing else. As a translator and educationist, "going to war" with a language is baffling to me.

My question to all of these is this: If the developers were always this patriotic, why weren't these decisions part of the original releases? I guess they weren't as patriotic back then? Do you see the issue here? Do you see there's intent behind this release, not love?

Second, the graphics are a downgrade. There's a disgusting blur and the new font is very ugly to look at. I personally never cared about how old games look, but if you are someone who wants better graphics / unable to enjoy older games, any mod here on PC does a better job than this "enhanced" edition.

Next, the bugs. If you know CS, you also know how it's called the "buggy" one of the trilogy. So, did GSC fix the bugs in this version? The answer is no. 99% of issues plaguing the game are still there, waiting to shake your hand. This release has nothing on the fan-made, bug squashing mods created by the community.

Speaking of mods, AKA the life-line of STALKER, something that made the game survive up to this point and the main reason why you have STALKER 2 now, they are in shambles in this version of the game as well. All you can have are small addons and not much else. Very strict rules are in place when it comes to modding the game too. So, if you're wondering about modifications you may or may not have played before, and whether you'll see them here or not, the answer is no.

They have unlisted the actual, original STALKER games from the store and started calling people who rightfully criticize their decisions "Russian trolls" online. True fans are laughing at your poor attempts at revisionism. I feel nothing but pity for newcomers who are being forced to play this inferior version.

Overall, this is a mess, not worth purchasing.
Stick with the original classic trilogy and forget this ever existed.

This is a case example of how not to do a re-release or "enhanced edition".

This review is for the entire legends of the zone / enhanced edition trilogy, under no circumstances should you buy or play these as opposed to the original games. They clearly didn't test it at all and the team they hired to port this over should be sacked and blacklisted from the industry. if they literally did nothing and re-released the exact same game, they would have been in a better position.

as a massive stalker fan since 2008 I can say this feels like a genuine scam and I did not even pay nor ask for it. I almost want to remove it from my steam library.

this is objectively the worst version of this game, the AI upscaling and extra shaders were not worth
the fact that this is a buggy blurry awful port, lets ignore the removed russian voice acting and soviet iconography among many other unwarranted changes there are several issues that make this worse than their original counterparts.

- Incredibly blurry, severe reduction in image quality across the board.

- As of writing this you are unable to change resolution, even at native resolution regardless of settings or upscaler's the game looks like its being rendered at 720p, forcing this with changes to user.ltx in both the "saved games" directory and games directory will do nothing.

- Textures are simply and lazily AI upscaled without many (if any) corrections, lots of smoothing errors from the AI's and they appear they were just put through an old freeware tool, this is especially apparent on UI stuff.

- The "enhanced" weapon models are almost identical save for poorly AI-upscaled textures, Alot of geometry smoothing errors still persist on many weapons, I am entirely unsure what they've actually done here.

- many bugs and glitches, they didn't build on anything the community has done in the last 15 years, there's bugs here that were fixed a lifetime ago.

- Controller support is absolutely awful, when it actually works.

- FSR but no DLAA or DLSS, lol.

this genuinely feels like they ported the switch version and called it a day.

What the absolute hell were they thinking? This was clearly not tested at all.
This is a disaster of a launch and to be honest I can't see how they can fix or salvage this into something worthy of being called "enhanced edition".

do not buy it, play the originals.
