Probably my favorite roguelike on the market currently and the only one I'd recommend to people tbh. Its a standout in a genre that I personally am not the biggest fan of, which is impressive to me.

GAMEPLAY (9/10)
Easily the strongest part of the game. Its fast-paced and extremely intense with a lot going on, not to mention incredibly difficult because you can die in a matter of seconds from the game's vast array of absurdly dangerous enemies. It requires proper positioning, crowd control, and a little bit of luck. The mutations you unlock throughout your run and the weapons you find can seriously alter the course of your game depending on your character more than most roguelikes, as I feel they can make or break your run. It should also be noted that there are a lot of secrets hiding within despite how straightforward the game looks, including a true ending to this game, so its a nice goal to aim for and I appreciate its existence. The only weakness to the gameplay is that some levels are just too short, most notably the optional levels.

WRITING (8/10)
Shockingly interesting, although it can be ignored if one wants. There's not a lot to say about it and really its just a mashup of all of Vlambeer's games, but what is there is very well-thought out, including an entire language they created for this universe called Trashtalk. While the story is presented in a humorous, chaotic way, the lore can be extremely dark and depressing, and I genuinely enjoyed looking into it as I played.

GRAPHICS AND ART (5/10)
I like it, but I can't help but wish there was a little more to the level designs. Also, you're stuck at 30fps, and although you can fix it, I'm unsure if it affects your achievement progress or not and I didn't feel like risking it. That's all there is to say about it.

AUDIO (9/10)
Absolutely incredible and it really carries the mediocre artwork and heightens the atmosphere. The punk-inspired music is fantastic and I love how deafeningly loud it can get with all the destruction with the heavy weaponry and equally crazy enemies. The only issue is that some levels are so short (10-15 second long levels) that you can't appreciate whats going on.

OVERALL (9/10)
My favorite roguelike and the only one I'd ever recommend, undoubtedly. Nuclear Throne has a killer vibe and gameplay loop that was a joy to play up to the true ending of the game, and even then there is still more to see if you wish to delve further.

Addictive top-down shooter. Becomes very hard very quickly, but still in a fair way (mostly). Get yer adrenaline and rage right here!
