Is this game a masterpiece? No, but I just played through it and felt like recommending it. It is a small point and click adventure that you can finish in about two hours, I needed 113 minutes. The story is non-violent and easy to follow, the ideal game to play with your kid(s).

The game contains in-game hints, but the puzzles were logical and so I didn't need them. The puzzles are all object-based. Find an object, use it on the right spot (or item). Talk to everyone you meet, watch the visual clues. You cannot die or get in a dead end, the game is fully voiced and saves automatically. Your character moves a bit slowly, you cannot double click on an exit to speed up. Hotspots can be shown.

Conclusion:
Nice point and click adventure. May be a bit too short and easy for pros - but I enjoyed my time with it and would have even more enjoyed it with one of my kids when they were young. Unfortunately they are all adults, so I had to play alone.

For me it was Love at first Sight. I love the humor, i mean an Octopus on a Roof, a Frankenstein like Butler, the Dialogues and so much more i don´t want to spoiler. The Puzzles are fair and sometimes really funny.
CHAMPY THE USELESS VAMPIRE! feels like a wonderfull bow to the golden Adventure Era.
At last i got that feeling with AZAZELS CHRISTMAS FABLE and WILLY MORGAN.

For me Champy is really special. A new and charming take on the Dracula Myth and so funny.

When I first sank my fangs into Champy, it was like biting into a juicy, glitchy apple. Bugs were crawling everywhere, and I felt like a digital exterminator on a mission. But kudos to the developer for being as quick as a vampire's reflexes to squash those bugs. They listened to my feedback and fixed the issues faster than you can say "bloodsucker."

After the updates, Champy's world came to life, and I was sucked into the story like a mosquito at a blood bank. The puzzles were devilishly clever, and the point-and-click gameplay was a refreshing throwback to the good old days of pixelated adventures.

Sure, Champy may be useless, but he's also endearing in his own bumbling way. As I guided him through his misadventures, I couldn't help but root for the little guy, even when his actions led to some hilarious consequences. (Keyword: wig. Need I say more?)

So, if you're in the mood for a game that's more about brains than brawn, Champy the Useless Vampire might just sink its teeth into your heart. Who knows, maybe we'll even get to see more of Champy's antics in future games. After all, there's always room for more fang-tastic fun in the world of video games!

the game was fun and funny - logical puzzles with humorous elements - the game has a hint system where you can get a hint and further the solution if you need it - the solution does not help, though, unless you explore and find the items you need - but then, it's an adventure game, so you're expected to explore :) - I only wish the game was longer

I did not encounter a single bug - everything worked smoothly

Well, that was a waste of $10. I started and played the game for about 10 minutes, then quit and restarted to see how it would load the game since there you cannot save at will. The game continued at the point I quit, but all my inventory items were gone - not only from the inventory, but also from their original spots. Since I didn't have that much time invested, I found where you could "Reset" the game and started a new game. When I quit and restarted the same thing happened.

I'd suggest waiting to get this game until the bugs are ironed out.

Since I love vampires and cartoons, I had to try this one. Love it! Champy, pronounced with a French accent, is a young vampire, grandson to the famous old vampire.

As a last resort, Champy is called to help his grandfather regain his immortality. Some vampire hunters poisoned him and only the Holy Grail can rehabilitate the elder vampire. As such, we as Champy have to save the day! And our grandfather, of course!

PROS:
- Old cartoon vibe and wonderful characters design;
- Attention to details (Champy's way of walking and his cape);
- Simple story with easy to complicated puzzles;
- Inventory as a coffin (I like the animation when Champy is taking an item);
- Hint button and handy suggestions, if you get stuck.

CONS:
- Some dialogues can be repetitive;
- A double-click to skip scene or move faster would have been nice;
- No trading cards or achievements - Would have wanted some.

All in all, a must play for vampire lovers. A small gem with tiny bits of vampire lore spices.

I was a little concerned with the dialogue in the cutscenes, the interactions between the characters felt very robotic, perhaps a bit forceful on the voice acting side (I wish the tone was more relaxed), and I didn't find them particularly funny, but luckily during gameplay, I still got a sense of playfulness from the main character, and I enjoyed the jokes with some of the puzzles. The game is extremely lighthearted which I don't mind personally, the only thing I would say, I felt like the characters would only have enough dialogue to get you to the next puzzle, I wish there was more dialogue between them, it felt like the scope of the game was very limited and they would not project enough personality.

The game is relatively short for the genre, about 2 to 3 hours compared to the average adventure game which is 5 to 10 hours in my experience, so I wish you had at least one more puzzle section in a different location. It does come with a walkthrough, you can just request a solution anytime you get stuck, which is fine in my opinion, also the game is generally not that difficult, and you can easily beat it just by eliminating the hotspots. No save slots though, it seems to just continue where you left.

I felt like visually the game was very limited in the variety, and it seems you were very conservative with the scope of the world, I did not like most of the cutscenes because the animation was very basic, but the animations during puzzles were generally enjoyable, as well as animation for the character just moving around. The locations also didn't have a lot of detail, although I still liked some of the background jokes, and hiding subtle hints in the environment. The game pretty much had only 2 locations, the castle and the town, so I felt like you needed to change the aesthetic at least one more time, just so you have some visual progression for the player exploring the world.

Puzzle design was probably the better part of the game, even though most of them were not logical at all, I still thought the solutions were funny. For me, memorable adventure games are those where puzzles can make you laugh, the way you make me think outside the box and how they would impact certain characters was the best part, so at least you got that down.


(+) Even though a lot of the puzzles were not logical, I still think the solutions were generally playful and creative, I had some decent laughs every 4 puzzles or so. The only puzzles I did not like were those where the solution didn't feel practical, like using the crossbow in that situation. With that said, I think the way you would incorporate side characters in the puzzles and how they would impact them is a good habit, with a few nitpicks I generally think this game has good puzzles that are fun and not difficult.

(+) As for everything else, I felt the game had poor consistency, yes there are some funny dialogue lines, yes there are some parts with decent animation, but it felt like overall you could not put everything together with the same level of quality. To be fair, I do think you generally had the right idea, the game does a decent job poking at the character, so maybe it's just not having enough people to make something bigger and more ambitious.

(+) Comes with in-game walkthrough and hotspots. No save slots though.


Especially with the cutscenes, I felt like the dialogue and the writing was very rigid and I think the voice actors were trying too hard, I think it's on you to make sure people can relax and have a more organic performance when you direct them. To be fair, I didn't feel it was a big problem around the town or during the gameplay in general. I think it's a combination of the writing not being very playful or interesting in some parts of the game, as well as not having a good pace between the responses, sometimes it would feel like 2 people reading their lines but not being in a conversation.

The animation and location detail was decent in some parts of the game, so I can see that you can do it, but it was not consistent overall, especially at the start of the game during cutscenes. I understand if you have limited resources, but I do think you should find that consistency so I am taken by surprise when something feels more low effort than the rest of the game.

I do think 2-3 hours is bit too conservative, I felt like the game needed at least one more puzzle section with a biome change. Usually in the same price range, these games are 5 to 10 hours.

Overall Thoughts: 6/10

I generally think you have the right ideas on how to make a good adventure game, I would say at least 70% of the game was very playful and interactive with the way the puzzles would poke at your logic, just occasionally lacking on the dialogue execution and feeling too robotic with some of the characters. I still enjoyed the game visually, but I felt like you should have kept it more consistent with the quality, sometimes you would animate really well, and sometimes it felt like only a small part of the character would react. Maybe not a fair criticism because I don't know your situation, but I wish the game was a little more ambitious in size, it felt like it needed another location or 2 to add more visual variety.

NIce, but very short adventure game. The puzzles are logic and very easy for someone who has played point and click adventure games before. Big Plus for me, there's voice acting :-)

This game had potential. Unfortunately, most of it is unrealised.

On the positive side, the artwork has character, the puzzles are logical, and at no point are you wondering what to do. On the downside, the game is really short (I finished in under two hours), the humour falls flat, and the characters are two-dimensional with perfunctory interactions with the protagonist. The promising plot with its inherent comedic opportunities is almost wholly undeveloped.

I'll give a pass to the voice acting (which was stilted), but the voice actors weren't given much of a script to work with. Given that English probably isn't the developers native language, this is perhaps understandable.

As a point & click fan, I'm hoping the developers will continue to keep at it, as I see some really good ideas and execution. But for this game at this price however, this just isn't worth it.
