Seriously, those things are even more useless than the l4d2 bots. At least the l4d2 bots know to stay close to you. These guys will spread out across the bottom and top floor of a building and then shout for help when a taser gets em, and will refuse to help me when I'm down unless I yell their name 3 times and wait for them to take the longest possible route to me. Not to mention being tied to crap weapons. At least I think they are. I have no idea if the bots even have any upgrades on em.

Ammo pickup is linear interpolation of a random value between the 'low' and 'high' pickup values, max ammo is clip size * nr clips and the x = y stuff is the upgrade x you get at level y in the corresponding tree. For example, the damage you have with the AK at level 30 in the tech tree is 2.7*1.2 and you have a clip size of 25+5. Note that you can get additional multipliers for your total ammo size of 1.5 and 1.15 for ESA and BGH, respectively.
Plus, it's not all about maths. This isn't a physics class, this is a videogame. One weapon may seem better on paper, but in game, it could be a completely different story, based on location, enemies, and difficulty. Hence why I'm asking the experienced community.
I appreciate the help though. Seems I'm just a tad bit too stupid to understand.
It's been a while since I played this game, but thinking of getting back in to it. If I remember correctly I'm around level 70 and my stats show my favourite weapon is the AMCAR-4 and haven't even tried the AK. But I'm now curious where the stats (damage, clip size, etc) come from as it might influence how I level up my trees.
I get them from the source code.
Here are the stats for the amcar:
amcar/m4
edit: note that the damage (and health, ofc) from these stats is usually multiplied by 10 to have whole numbers
edit 2: oops, switched the last two values
AK= 125 (No bonuses)
M308= 72 (No bonuses)
