Gris was great and I loved it. I didn't believe that this may supress that, but it turns out its even more amazing. Much more refined experience, gameplay wise with combat and interesting platform elements, and art is just stunning.
I still love Gris, but this one... oh boy. Cannot express how l love this one!

GRIS resonated with me personally alot more. The themes it showed and the music all hit the right spots that made the game a 9.5/10 for me.

Neva is great. I'm an avid dog lover so the theme carried it a lot. There is combat in this game, which can be hit or miss depending on what you are looking for. What caught me by surprise was how easily I was able to immerse myself. Especially the first chapter had me interact with Neva in ways I didn't think about until I noticed what I was doing. The overall vibe of Neva would be 7.5/10 for me. Maybe an 8/10 depending on my mood.

So it's good! But I don't think it tops GRIS. It does equal GRIS in terms of aesthetics. Environment. Sound design. The pace of story telling. The music.

Agreed. I preferred Gris overall, but I think it does depends on taste. What really settled it for me is the ending of Neva, which I found in comparison to be pretty unsatisfying. But in terms of overall gameplay and general content, it's quite good, and absolutely lives up to Nomada's aesthetic-immersive standard (which is high to say the least). Worth playing for sure.

Gris is awesome. Neva disappoints me. I don't like fighting - neither against plants nor against animals. I love puzzles like Talos, Portal or Gris. There is enough violence in this world - I don't need it in games too.

Gris is definitely a more elegant gaming experience. Combat in Neva is horrible...like completely uninspired.

I disagree. It's simplistic but its tight. Hitboxes are spot on. Animations are clean. It fits perfectly with the rest of the game.

If you liked Gris, is literally that game but better in every thing that Gris did, and with combat.
The combat is simple as ♥♥♥♥, but feels amazing imo :forestfriend:

In terms of emotional impact. GRIS basically cheats by being about the Grief process. It's perfectly executed and it hits hard. Like Using a weighted bat. It also has one very clear idea. It's laser focused. so 1. NOTHING will ever compare to GRIS. 2. This isn't a game about grief, so a direct comparison isn't appropriate 3. Comparison is the thief of joy.

Neva has a much more encompassing idea. Grief is there, but it's not the focus. It's just a part of the cycle of life. The lense is pulled way back and I found it's something you need to sit with a while for it to fully bloom.

Everything about the game is absolutely amazing. If I had to complain about one thing in the game, I'd say the gamma/bloom is a bit overdone. I turned the game gamma all the way down and there's a few spots in the game where things are still getting washed out. That COULD just be my monitor. OR maybe a Nvidia driver update could fix it. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it could be better.

In terms of story and the message it sends, GRIS is much more powerful, and in general I would say it is quite a bit better argumentatively speaking than Neva. The platforming and fighting system in Neva is simple but very satisfying and it also has a really good concept art, although inferior to GRIS in my opinion.

Besides, Neva has a lot of things that remind tremendously to the movie The Princess Mononoke. I'm not talking about things that remind of the movie, I'm talking about things that are EXACTLY the same, so more than inspiration we would have to talk about plagiarism in some aspects. Although I'm enjoying Neva quite a lot, I didn't like that part because it seems to me that it takes too much elements from another cult work. And I think it was unnecessary. So in that respect it has been a disappointment.

The combat in Neva is tight and fun.... for some time. Then you start to notice the limitations and simplicity in the combat system and it just turns into a dash / hit / dash / hit snore fest. I never felt challenged and that bored me.

Presentation is top notch though. Its simply a beautiful game.

Theme in GRIS resonated more with me and I liked the focus on puzzles more.

Gris 9 / 10 (also found its puzzles a bit too easy lol) Neva 7 / 10.

I... would rate this game a little less than Gris, both games are great don't get me wrong but I think Gris's focus on multiple emotions gives it that edge. I also think Gris used colour better.
