Fuwamoco, Botan, Pekora, Nerissa... I wouldn't be surprised to see more in the future.
Although Fuwamoco might be an interesting challenge since they're twins and pretty much every other member are solo.
bad example ikno, i can't think of any other games where they have two characters be one
Well there's the Ice Climbers in Smash Bros, but that's a totally different genre. However they only took damage if the one YOU were controlling directly was hit. The other could be knocked out but you could still fight, however your effectiveness dropped by half and you lost your recovery jump if the second Ice Climber goes down.
Don't think a similar mechanic would work here though. So probably something similar to Ame and her Bubba skill, with one running around collecting XP and Coins while the other is the primary. Could be affected by "outfit" so that you can choose to be Fuwawa or Mococo and the partner takes on the form you aren't using yourself. Biggest difference I would set though is that the partner actually has to maneuver around terrain.
And I swear if she occasionally carries a garden gnome...
Picking either Fuwawa or Mococo at the start of the run could work. The unpicked twin could be a companion, like Bubba or Friend (and I don't mean Fubuki). Both could have their own skills, but have the same weapon type: dog claws (or whatever they'll be called).
Fuwawa and Mococo would be 2 separate entities controlled by the same set of inputs (so both would move left if you held left, both would aim right if you faced right, etc.). You would also be able to press the mouse aim button to toggle moving them separately; the normal movement inputs would move and aim Fuwawa and the normal aiming inputs would move and aim Mococo. Their new positions relative to each other would remain fixed when toggling back to simultaneous movement unless the movement of one of them is blocked by some sort of obstacle in which case that one would stand in place while the other continues to move.
They would both share the same health pool, stats, main weapon, skills and special however when it comes to sub weapons and items they would be a bit different from the others. Each of them would be limited to 3 sub weapons and 3 items that would be exclusive to the one who picks it up/chooses it at level up. So while each of them on their own wouldn't be as strong as 1 of the other characters could be, together they can have 2 wildly different builds that could potentially make them stronger than just 1 character with 1 build.
Of course they would still be able to create collabs but be limited to 2 collabs and 1 sub weapon each because of the limited number of weapons they can carry. If they feel too weak or difficult to play because of these limitations then I'd also propose that each of them could be allowed create a super collab, making them the only character who can (technically) have 2 super collabs at once.
As for specifics like what their stats, main weapon, skills and special would be I haven't really thought that far into it to be honest, so I think it would be cool to hear ideas that other people have for those.
You could have mini-Fuwamoco to represent the hitbox and then JoJo-esque Stand Fuwamoco to show their art properly or something
